The South Dakota State University (SDSU) Jackrabbit Athletics team is growing! We are seeking an additional position as Assistant Coach for Women's Basketball. As a university committed to both academic excellence and athletic achievement, we are looking for an individual passionate about coaching, mentoring, and shaping the next generation of talented athletes. South Dakota State is an NCAA Division I institution located in Brookings, South Dakota. SDSU competes in The Summit League for all sports except football (Missouri Valley Football Conference), wrestling (Big XII Conference), and women's equestrian (National Collegiate Equestrian Association). This is a 12-month, full-time, benefits-eligible position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The responsibilities of this position involve assisting in all aspects of maintaining a successful NCAA Division I women's basketball program and assisting the Athletic Department in achieving the goals for student-athlete development.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree completed by application deadline;

  • At least 1-year extensive knowledge and understanding of the sport of basketball and familiar with all aspects of women's basketball;

  • Proven career path;

  • Effective communication (oral, written and interpersonal) skills;

  • Ability to be self-directed and motivated;

  • Experience providing direction to others;

  • General knowledge of NCAA manual and governance structure;

  • Knowledge of recruiting practices;

  • Organize team travel coordination;

  • Collegiate basketball related experience;

  • Summer camps experience (organizing and operating); and

  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Division I coaching experience; and

  • Working knowledge of computer systems and various software packages.
