Assistant Coach, Sports Shooting

Iowa Central is looking for an Assistant Sports Shooting Coach that will be responsible for assisting the head sports shooting coach in all aspects of coaching. Involving recruiting, retaining members, and overall in-season/off-season strategies/programs.

The Assistant Men's and Women's Sports Shooting Coach will also serve in a second college assignment of one of the following:   Athletic Coordinator, Housing Coordinator, Student Development Assistant, or Intramural and Student Life and Activities Coordinator. The employment in the above position is contingent upon the Assistant Coach being employed in both assigned positions.

Constant (67-100%)

• Assist the head coach in managing and directing the sports shooting program.

• Assist the head sports shooting coach with all aspects of the team including training, competing, and scheduling.

• Assist with academic progress of students athletes.

• Assists with recruiting including calling and high school visits, attending shooting competitions, attending high school shooting team practices, attending group visit days on campus, meet with individual campus visits, and attending ATA competitions.

• Commits to and is responsible for adhering to all rules and regulations set forth for the team, the College, SCTP, ACUI, ATA, and ICCAC with the utmost integrity.

• Travel outside the Area V recruitment areas.

• Ensure athletes are knowledgeable and practice firearm safety at practice and competitions.

• Check-in and out firearms at the club house at Iowa Central's shooting range.

• Coordinate travel arrangements for shoots both in and out of state.

Frequent (34-66%)

• Travel out of state for recruiting.

• Register athletes with SCTP, ATA, and ACUI.

• Assist with study tables and grade checks for the team.

• Assist with the placement of the graduating athletes into a four-year college.

• Assist head coach with all fundraising aspects including clinics, camps, and MidwayUSA promotions.

Occasional (10-33%)

• Attend meetings as necessary.

• Assist in the promotion and support of the department.

• Coordinate home conference shoot.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

1.   Be able and willing to represent Iowa Central Community College in a positive manner with prospective, former, and current students, clients, suppliers, and the community we serve.

2.   Help develop a sports shooting program all can be proud of.

3.   Help build strong relations with community, coaches, and players.

4.   Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, logically, and coherently, orally and in writing.

5.   Ability to work efficiently and accurately in an atmosphere of frequent interruption.

6.   Must be able to get along with diverse personalities.

7.   Keep accurate office hours.

Associate's degree required, Bachelor's preferred. College playing experience preferred, coaching experience at the collegiate level preferred. Must hold a current Class B Driver's License with Passenger Endorsement or willingness to complete prior to athletic season.

GENERAL PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH OR WITHOUT A REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:

Position involves constant (67-100%) sitting, talking or listening to persons over the telephone and in person, traveling for long periods of time; frequent (34-66%) standing, walking, talking, jogging, visual activity and repetitive motion, use of computer equipment; and occasional (10-33%) assembling equipment, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling and carrying/lifting up to 25 pounds.
