Pay Classification: Full Time/$15,000 Annual and Room and Board (parallel to cafeteria services)

Reports To: Athletic Head Coach/Dean of Students & Athletics

FLSA Status: Exempt

Job Summary: Assists the Athletic Head Coach in the planning and supervision of practices, scouting and recruiting. Aids in the coaching of student athletes during competition. On-site member of the Residence Hall Staff. Responsible for the administration, supervision, safety, and student services in their respective resident hall. Liaison with Institutional Affairs and Sports Information Director (SID) for their assigned sport.

Minimum Required Education:

  • Bachelor's degree; or a combination of experience and education that yields the required knowledge, skills, and abilities

Minimum Required Experience:

  • Preferred: Experience as an assistant coach

  • Preferred: Experience in student services, student life, and/or as a Residence Hall Manager

  • Preferred: Two to three years of supervision/management experience.

  • Preferred: Commercial Driver License

Required Knowledge:

  • Working knowledge of the Hill College vision and mission.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Maintains athletic facilities as assigned by the Athletic Head Coach.

  • Assists with the planning and supervision of regular practice and recruitment and scouting of potential student athletes.

  • Attends competitions and aids in the coaching during competition.

  • Provides supervision for seventy-five to one hundred and fifty resident students.

  • Develops and maintains a safe, positive, and respectful environment among athletes and residents, emphasizing consideration and concern for others' wellbeing and need for quiet after hours.

  • Maintains and enforces campus policies and procedures. Educates students regarding Hill College Residence Life Handbook to include policies and procedures as well as those outlined in the Student Handbook.

  • Assists in the opening and closing of residence halls, including weekend and evening duties. Assists with residence hall check-in/out procedures.

  • Attends all residence hall, campus safety and other student services meetings as required.

  • Submits citations/incident/damage/witness reports to the Dean of Students and Athletics the next business morning as well as completing online forms as needed.

  • Works cooperatively with Hill College Campus Safety as needed. Familiar with alarm systems, evacuation routes, emergency procedures and the Emergency Operation Plan as items relate to residence halls. Responsible for security items, keys, and alarms, while ensuring confidentiality.

  • Work with SID and Institutional Affairs team to schedule pre-season media day in a timely manner to promote the upcoming season and players.

  • Notify SID of any schedule changes.

  • Ensure sport is adhering to college's social media guidelines.

Other Information:

  • Security sensitive position.

  • Evening and weekend work required.

  • Valid Texas Driver's License.

Physical Requirements:

  • Light work: exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. The use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of force greater than that for Sedentary Work.
