The Assistant Coach provides leadership and direction to all facets of the program in advancing the mission of the University and the Department of Athletics. Specific areas of responsibility include sport specific coaching, recruitment, student-athlete development, program administration and program advancement yielding agreed upon results. All activities shall be conducted within the policies and resource framework of the University, the Athletics Department, The Patriot League and the NCAA.

Accountabilities:

  • Student-athlete development

  • Develop student-athletes with counseling, advising, educating and motivating

  • Develop student-athletes through inspiration, discipline and rewards

  • Monitor, evaluate and retain student-athletes

  • Assist in team building and character development with student-athletes

  • Coaching

  • Assist in planning practices, training sessions, team and individual conditioning, line-ups and competitive strategies

  • Instruct and demonstrate different techniques and skills

  • Coordinate in evaluating and assessing effectiveness and results

  • Coordinate in adapting and refining skills

  • Communicate with athletes and team on a regular basis

  • Recruiting

  • Assist in identifying and attracting prospects to Lehigh University

  • Assist in evaluating prospects through high school visits, at competitions and/or home visits

  • Assist in selecting prospective candidates

  • Promote Lehigh University through communicating with prospects and their families

  • Assist in coordinating recruitment strategies, calendars and procedures

  • Assist in yielding student prospects, valuing diversity in the process and results

  • Program administration

  • Assist in planning and evaluating program results, statuses and priorities

  • Assist in preparing and managing annual program budgets

  • Assist in supervising, managing and evaluating personnel

  • Assist in evaluating prospective members of the Coaching Staff

  • Assist in scheduling competitions and/or planning tournaments in coordination with appropriate administrator

  • Comply with NCAA, League and institutional rules; attend staff and University meetings

  • Respond to administrative and supervisory requests

  • Utilize technology to achieve efficiencies and productivity

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and experience as a student athlete is required; Master's degree preferred

  • Three to five years related work experience

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Good decision making skills

  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Solid presentation skills

  • Supervisory experience preferred

  • Solid computer skills with experience using word processing and spreadsheet software

  • Successful completion of standard background checks including but not limited to: social security verification, education verification, national criminal background checks, motor vehicle checks, PATCH, FBI fingerprinting, Child Abuse Clearance and credit history based upon the requirements of the position

Special Considerations:

  • Will often be required to walk, stand, sit, climb, kneel, crouch, crawl, lift up to 25 lbs

  • This position is responsible for driving University-owned vehicles as a routine function, therefore a valid Driver's License and a good driving record is required

  • Variable schedule; often works nights and weekends

  • Periods of high volume August through May

  • Required to be on call August through May

  • Extensive travel is required

Originating in California, Amazing Athletes has grown to be a sister company of Super Soccer Stars, offering coaches flexible schedules, a pathway for growth and development and a chance to work with and inspire youth. Our coaches will begin with various training methods, executing demonstrations in multiple childcare centers in the territory, starting new classes, enrolling students and looking to consistently grow classes.</p><p>We are looking to add qualified, experienced, early-childhood teachers and coaches to join our program and be the face of the company! Amazing Athletes and Super Soccer Stars coaches are passionate about developing an athlete’s confidence, and conveying the importance of teamwork while inspiring active play and fitness. </p><p>As a P/T Youth Sports Coach you will be required to teach fun, energetic and educational sports and fitness classes to children ranging from 18 months to 12 years old. Our vision is to continue creating a unique and positive culture that thrives on excitement, encouragement, development, and teamwork.</p><p><strong>Regular Responsibilities and Duties Include:</strong></p><ul> <li>Showing up on time to class and being prepared (includes commuting to class) </li> <li>Interacting with parents, teachers, directors, and children on a daily basis </li> <li>Teaching and conducting classes in an organized, structured, and fun manner </li> <li>Making sure you are outgoing and loud every class </li> <li>Understanding responsibilities while the children are under your supervision </li> <li>Maintaining up to date class rosters </li> <li>Submitting accurate pay stubs to management for review</li> </ul><p><strong>Potential Work Schedule: </strong></p><ul> <li>Classes are scheduled in 30 minute time slots starting from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM, M-F. </li> <li>Classes may be scattered throughout the day, but most coaches will work no more than 2-3 classes in a day. </li> <li>4 - 8 hours per week, with the option to add more hours when available.
