Position Summary Information

Objective

The Assistant Coach is responsible for working closely with the Head Coach to help teach, mentor and monitor the student-athletes participating in the sport. The Assistant Coach is supervised by the Head Baseball Coach, however exercises considerable independent judgement in the management and coaching of his sport.

Principal Accountabilities

Principal Accountabilities

Assistant Coach Duties:

1.Assists head coach in practices, games or events, extra-curricular activities, scouting, recruiting, promotions and marketing of the Blinn College athletic program and other work related duties.

2.Ability to travel with the team and/or coaching staff to games, events and recruitment.

3.Compiles sports information, including but not limited to statistics and reporting, as assigned.

4.Helps maintain the athletic equipment and facilities.

5.Attends and actively participates in all required meetings and trainings. Represents the head coach at selected events when schedules conflict.

6.Assists head coach in supervising the strength and conditioning program,

7.Assists the head coach in the supervision of the Colleges residence halls and dining hall.

8.Adheres to all Blinn College policies and procedures as well as NJCAA policies and procedures.

9.Assists head coach in monitoring baseball players during mandatory study hall hours to ensure academic requirements are met for student success.

10. Assists head coach with providing effective supervision of baseball student athletes in the generic areas of practice, competition, travel and life management, throughout their entire experience at Blinn College.

11. Establishes, maintains, and acts as a role model for an ethical and moral code of behavior and living that is expected of the players that are residing on campus.

12. Provides academic advising to all student athletes within the baseball program.

13. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Red Shirt Advisor Duties:

1.Responsible for providing academic advising to all red shirt program student athletes within the entire athletic program.

2.Assist red shirt students with identifying academic courses related to their educational and career goals to the extent that the student can independently develop an educational plan to achieve their goals while ensuring the students FERPA rights are protected. Adheres to the rules and regulations of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).

3.Monitor and evaluate Advisor compliance to procedures, ensure all quality and consistent advising is being provided to incoming and currently enrolled student-athletes.

4.Provide interpretation of advising red shirt students data for the development of target major

advising sessions and programs.

5.Performs other related duties as assigned.

Ability to maintain a professional relationship with students and peers.

Ability to fully adhere to all NJCAA and Blinn College policies, procedures, rules and regulations to ensures compliance.

Ability to fully comply with Blinn College policies and procedures.

Working knowledge and practical application of policies, procedures, rules and strategies related to intercollegiate baseball or related baseball athletics.

Current drivers license in good standing with the ability to travel on behalf of the college.
