ASSISTANT CLINICAL PROFESSOR OF COUNSELING & DEVELOPMENT

The Department of Human Development, Family Studies, & Counseling (HDFSC) at Texas Woman's University invites applications for an Assistant Clinical Professor in Counseling & Development. The position is expected to begin in Summer or Fall 2024.

The Department of HDFSC houses programs in Child Development, Child Life, Family Studies, Marriage & Family Therapy (MFT), Counseling & Development (C&D), and School Counseling. Our M.S. in Counseling & Development is CACREP accredited and has tracks in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling. We also have a 100% online M.Ed. in School Counseling. Our master's students in C&D and MFT receive training in our in-house Counseling and Family Therapy Clinic, which serves the community.

THE POSITION

The primary responsibilities of the Assistant Clinical Professor in Counseling & Development will be to teach clinical and didactic courses, provide clinical supervision, coordinate clinical field experiences, and participate in university and community service. The position is a full-time, 9-month clinical track appointment. Summer teaching opportunities may also be available.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Counseling (preferably from a CACREP accredited program)

  • Eligible for LPC licensure in Texas

  • Documented professional LPC identity

  • Evidence of successful teaching experiences

  • Demonstrated clinical competence

  • Willingness to engage in community/university partnerships

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fluent in Spanish (verbal and written)

  • Documented evidence of working with families from varied backgrounds

  • Demonstrated experience teaching, mentoring, and advising non-traditional students and being sensitive to their educational needs
