Position Summary

The City of Albuquerque Legal Department is hiring an Assistant City Attorney for its general counsel position for the Department of Health, Housing and Homelessness, which provides counsel on a broad range of legal issues, including contract issues, federal grant compliance, procurement, rulemaking and interpretation, and other duties as assigned. This Assistant City Attorney will provide a variety of legal services including contract review and drafting, counsel with regard to federal grant and procurement requirements, legal research, and drafting and interpreting legal requirements and department policies. Attention to detail and strong writing and interpersonal skills are essential. Preferences include: Three (3)+ years' experience as licensed attorney; experience with government agencies, transactional and/or procurement experience.

Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements

  • Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited law school recognized by the American Bar Association; and

  • Must be a licensed attorney at law admitted to practice by the State Bar of New Mexico or be able to attain bar membership within three months

  • ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.

  • Possession of a valid Driver's License or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
