About the Role
The Assistant Chef is a key member of the full-service kitchen team, which serves healthy, creative, and appealing meals (breakfast, lunch, and snack) for 480 Middle School students and 600 Early Childhood and Elementary students every day and special school events. This person will be responsible for food preparation, cooking, and serving. This exciting role is for a culinary professional who is interested TEP's revolutionary approach to achieving equity for under-served communities and will help inspire health and wellness through supporting the school's healthy food program.
Position Responsibilities
Prepare, cook, and service fresh meals for the school community as a member of the Kitchen Team
Play an active role in the daily food service for students and staff during meal times (breakfast, lunch, and snack)
Ensure a friendly and welcoming environment for students and staff
Ensure compliance with all sanitation, health and safety standards by maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment
About You
Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in related food services role
Strong understanding of cooking methods, ingredients, kitchen equipment, and related processes
Extremely dependable, punctual, detail-oriented, and a strong communicator.
Possession of the New York City Food Protection certification, strongly preferred

Compensation: Competitive hourly rate in the range of $18 to $25, based on the individual's experience level. Weekly daytime shift hours vary between 35 to 40 hours per week.
Time Off: 3 weeks of vacation plus 11 federal holidays (New Year's, MLK Day, President's Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, July 4th, Labor Day, Indigenous People's Day, Thanksgiving Thursday & Friday, Christmas).
