Job Description

Position Summary:

The primary role of the Assistant Buyer will be to process Third Party Rush Desk orders and/or support the Buyers in the department by acting as a floater and/or performing administrative duties to ensure timely delivery of products to our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Buyers in the department with order processing

  • Review and process direct ship purchase orders in the Buyer queue and/or 3P Rush Desk within our 4-hour turnaround time and by utilizing our Specials database

  • Act as a floater when required by the department including vacations, other outages

  • Perform other administrative duties including but not limited to:

  • Expediting and Resending of purchase orders

  • Utilizing our black-hole, open-not-sent and other similar reports and taking appropriate follow-up actions

  • Assist the team with backorder activities or similar administrative duties when assigned, including quarter end revenue push

  • Communicate order delays to customer service and/or sales reps

  • Escalate problems to designated Buyers and/or management team

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Science or an equivalent combination of 3-5 years of experience/education/certification

  • Ability to handle high volume of phone calls and emails

  • Ability to solve problems quickly and work independently

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize with a sense of urgency and attention to detail

  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office, Mainframe, AS400

  • Ability to work in a fast paced, high volume environment and to adapt to changing requirements and tasks

  • Ability to handle adverse, ambiguous and/or stressful situations with professionalism

The Assistant Buyer assists there Buyer/Senior Buyer with the in-depth development of merchandise assortments by category, collaborating on every aspect of the process. They also research economic, financial, market, competitive and industry data to explain current business trends and anticipate new trends or big ideas. Job Duties & Responsibilities * Assist the buyers in the in-depth development of merchandise assortments by category, collaborating on every aspect of the process. Sit with the buyer to go through the Merchandise Assortment Process and apply financials. * Assume responsibility of in-season category ownership by monitoring performance, identifying opportunities and barriers and making recommendations to drive for business results (buy more of/cancel future orders/price changes). * Prepare and maintain recommended merchandise floor plans and game plans for the store locations. Ensure accuracy of merchandising reports, assortment sheets, and receipts. * Research economic, financial, market, competitive and industry data to explain current business trends and anticipate new trends or big ideas; including market visits. * Manage store communication regarding initiatives (varies by dept.) * Trains and mentors Merchandise Administrators, MTPs, and Interns.
