Job Summary

Peachtree Special Risk Brokers, LLC, a subsidiary of Brown & Brown, seeking a dynamic Assistant to join our team in our satellite office located in Indianapolis, Indiana. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual looking to advance their career. In this role, our team will rely on you to support the clerical, administrative process, and management of a Broker's book of business in our placement of difficult and/or complex Excess & Surplus (E&S) risks in various lines of coverage.

Essential Duties:

  • Assist the Broker in reviewing applications to determine placement of coverage

  • Assist the Broker with the placement of risks with various carriers

  • Ensures quotes and binders are confirmed in writing, policies are issued promptly and accurately, state filings and taxes processed within applicable state laws

  • Completes and files documentation

  • Collaborates with Broker and associates with regards to coverages, changes in coverages, and perils

  • Services the designated book of business as it relates to marketing, administration and sales

  • Maintains compliance with Quality Control guidelines.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma; College Degree or equivalent preferred

  • One (1) or more years of successful insurance experience


  • Account management experience in retail or wholesale preferred

  • Active State insurance license.

As an Associate Broker, an individual is primarily responsible for and shows demonstration of the following: * Experience with standard lines underwriting and direct bill accounts. * Review and analyze whether to accept, modify or decline a risk. * Possess a high level of proficiency using multiple carrier rating systems, agency management systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and working in a paperless environment. * Keying in and uploading applications to carrier online portals. * Clearly demonstrate specific knowledge of product lines, coverage and state requirements. * Build and maintain positive agency relationships via phone calls, emails and agency visits. * Demonstrate a strong knowledge of competition/market conditions regarding carriers and products. * Participate in meetings and training seminars as requested. * Respond to agent requests and inquiries on a timely basis. Identify customer needs and take appropriate action to meet those needs. * Ability to stay abreast and communicate carrier appetites and brokerage procedures. * Ability to operate within rating guidelines. * Excellent documentation and file management skills. * Thorough understanding of small business related insurance coverages. * Demonstrated ability to build solid relationships with clients (internally and externally). * Ability to sit for extended periods of time and to move intermittently throughout the workday. * Good speaking and listening skills. * Ability to interact with others, both in person and through phone, e-mail, and written correspondence. * Ability to travel occasionally by air and car. This job is a good fit for an individual who is comfortable using computers (Windows environment); can multi-task and prioritize; has strong organizational skills; is detailed oriented and is flexible in a fast-pace, changing environment. We are looking for a seasoned individual with a minimum of 3-5 years of commercial lines experience with exposure to standard lines rating platforms. Experience with imaging systems is helpful, but not required. A high school diploma is required and college coursework/degree is a plus. Independent agency experience is also a plus.
