The South Dakota State University (SDSU) Jackrabbit Athletics team is seeking an Assistant Coach for Baseball. As a university committed to both academic excellence and athletic achievement, we are looking for an individual passionate about coaching, mentoring, and shaping the next generation of talented athletes. South Dakota State is an NCAA Division I institution located in Brookings, South Dakota. SDSU competes in The Summit League for all sports except football (Missouri Valley Football Conference), wrestling (Big XII Conference), and women's equestrian (National Collegiate Equestrian Association). This is a 12-month, full-time, benefits-eligible position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist the head coach in all phases of the baseball program. This position will be responsible for assisting in recruiting qualified student-athletes, on-the-field coaching, specifically pitchers, public relations, team travel, conditioning and camps.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree completed by date of application;

  • At least one-year collegiate baseball coaching or three years of related high-level baseball coaching;

  • Commitment to promote an atmosphere of compliance and adherence to institutional, conference and NCAA rules and regulations;

  • Effective written communication skills;

  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills;

  • Effective verbal communication and interpersonal skills;

  • Proven career path.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree;

  • Division I collegiate coaching experience;

  • Understanding of NCAA Division I rules and regulations;

  • Experience with player development with pitching experience; and

  • Demonstrated ability of student-athlete recruitment process, with emphasis on Midwest;

  • Division I coaching experience; and

  • Summer camp experience.
