The Gateway Hotel & Conference Center is looking for a Full-Time Assistant Banquet Manager to lead our team of banquet associates to provide exceptional quality service to our guests. The hours for this position will vary and some night and weekend availability is required.
Delivering first-class customer service on a consistent basis
A working knowledge of hotel banquet/catering
Manage the daily operations of the banquet area, including maintaining product, set-up of events, and food & beverage presentation
Monitor and control the maintenance / sanitation of the banquet areas
Assist our sales department in the execution of events
Assist guests and the group point of contact during events
Ensure set-up and tear-down of events to specifications listed on BEO, or verbal requests of sales, client or other party
Ability to calculate and review the banquet checks to ensure accurate billing
Complete inventory on a monthly basis, including liquor and hardware, and other items as directed by Manager
Work effectively with co-assistant to assist on time clock and schedule, as well as actively participate in the hiring process, training, develop and coach employees when necessary. Work with temporary staffing companies as needed to supplement staffing needs
Complete all human resources and payroll paperwork on a weekly basis, including timeclock management, tip reporting and any additional paperwork
Maintain open communication with all appropriate parties
Comply with attendance requirements and be available to work on a regular basis
Foster a teamwork environment to improve productivity and operational efficiency of all conference service associates
Act as member of the Gateway Hotel & Conference Center management team, including complying with standards of the Manager on Duty program at all times
Bachelor's degree and/or a minimum of 2-5 years' experience in banquet /conference services management
Must have the ability to stand for long periods of time. Ability to complete all required certifications (ServSafe, TIPS, and i-Pact) within 6-months of hire
Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite and learn property management system.
Must be able to squat, lift, push and pull up to 75 lbs
The ability and knowledge to learn our audio video system
