Now Hiring: Assistant Banquet Manager

We are looking for people that have a passion to serve and lead others! Our events at our hotel provide great exposure of our venue for receptions, meetings, trainings and even reunions. To do this we have to have the right team in place where everyone is a team player focused on quality, service delivery, and timeliness.

We are looking for a highly motivated leader with great customer service and team leading skills. This person will report to and work with the Banquet Manager to supervise the team and help execute events such as business meetings, weddings and reunions. Prior Food and Beverage Management required

The Assistant Banquet Manager is responsible for the supervision of the Banquet staff. The Assistant Banquet Manager works alongside the Banquet Manager to coordinate all food and beverage service with the Banquet team to ensure excellent guest service.

Essential Job Functions

  • Provide exceptional guest service to all customers.

  • Leads the team with motivation and direction and assures that all standards of quality are in place

  • Greet guests and be responsible for accommodating all guests' needs at the attendance of an event.

  • Participate in good communication with guests with questions regarding the menu.

  • Deliver food and beverages from staging areas to guests as needed to assist the team

  • Assist other servers during peak periods in delivering food and guest requests.

  • Can train others on serving plated, and reception style meal services (training provided)

  • Anticipate guest's needs and monitor the guests dining experience to ensure satisfaction with food and service.

  • Respond promptly and courteously to any requests.

  • Oversee Setup, execution, and clean-up for an event.

  • Performs side work to prepare for upcoming events.

  • Assures all service areas are kept clean and safe at all times

  • Maintain a professional and personable appearance.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Working hours are weekday evening and weekends. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF WORK Provides excellent customer service to both internal and external customers. Ensure all staff are providing excellent customer service. Manages and oversees facility activities including programs, rentals and meetings. Handles facility reservations for 10 shelters within the Westerville park system and other Community Center facility reservations as assigned. Registers patrons for classes and passes Supervises Community Center part time staff and volunteers while on duty. Exercises initiative and professional judgment in the performance of duties. Completing all reports and special projects, as assigned. Examples are shelter and facility refunds, pass refunds, working with special payment plans, ACH payments, safety inspections, ect. Understanding and enforcing all City of Westerville policies and procedures Enforces security policies. Ensures all maintenance and security issues are reported and properly documented. Directs participants to various classroom/rental locations. Prep rooms for meetings, classes, programs and rentals which includes the set up and tear down of tables and chairs. Handles customer questions, registration, concerns and complaints in person, via e-mail and on the telephone. Prepares and maintains required records and reports. Responsible for safety action during emergency situations. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS OF WORK Minimum 1 year recreation experience Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Docs and Google Sheets Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with co-workers, management, instructors and guests of the Parks and Recreation Department.
