DEFINITION: -Under the direction of Education Services, the Assistant Band Director will facilitate and support student learning. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Co-teach classes and sectionals for beginning, intermediate, and advanced level band students at Parlier High School and Parlier Jr. High School.
Share the responsibility of teaching all music courses, which may include Brass, Woodwinds, Percussion, Concert Band, Color Guard, Marching Band, Jazz Band, Jazz Combo, and chamber ensembles.
Collaborate with the music department to craft a music curriculum that celebrates the artistic process.
Recruit and develop music students to develop a thriving high school music program.
After school, evening, and weekend rehearsals/performances will be required throughout the school year for events including athletic events
Exhibit and uphold Parlier Unified core values
Create a culture of learning in your classroom
Engage in data-driven planning and assessment of student learning
Establish a culture of respect and rapport with the students which supports the students' emotional safety
Facilitate rigorous learning by delivering cognitively engaging lessons that incorporate our instructional methodologies
Engage in critical reflection, constantly revising practice to increase effectiveness
Participate in a professional community across your school site and Parlier Unified
Develop partnerships within the community by communicating with families and bringing to bear resources that support student success in college, leadership, and life QUALIFICATIONS: -Bachelor's degree (required)
Experience in teaching multiple instruments, such as brass, woodwinds, percussion, color guard, and marching band.
Have met the CA Basic Skills requirement
Valid CA Preliminary or Clear Single Subject Music credential
Have strong content knowledge, pedagogical understanding, and the capacity to plan and deliver instruction to meet the needs of students
