The Assistant Baker prepares and presents food items following menu specifications and standard recipes while maintaining a clean and safe environment.

Pay attention to time for baking and resting products.
Mix icings, fillings and other decorative needs.
Understanding, operating and maintaining baking equipment.
Making sure ovens are set at correct temperatures.
Knowledge of every recipe.
Safely and effectively use all equipment essential to the position.
Prepare bakery items following menu specifications and standard recipes.
Organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
Ensure quality standards and cost control measures are followed.
Primary focus will be on facilitating through Pastry Chef the timely execution of all menu items, making sure all bakery items are cooked to company standards.
Demonstrates ability to perform advanced production and service skills to include set-up tasks of every station.
Must measure, mix, knead, roll, cut, or otherwise shape ingredients into dough according to recipe standards.
Must be vigilant about exact measurements, paying strict attention to timing.
Must adhere to tight production schedules and check that correct quantities are being produced for the order.
Must have working knowledge of food storage, knife handling and sharpening, weights & measures, recipes and yields, Health department regulations, sanitation and safety regulations.
Responsible for all routine opening, during-service, and closing functions and checklists.
Communicate clearly using appropriate language and conduct when engaging Guests and Team Members.
Work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
What are we looking for?
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
Culinary or Baking Certification required. Experience may substitute for education on a year for year basis.
Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English.
Must be 18 years of age.
Food service experience preferred, one year prior experience in bakery required.
A degree or certificate from a major culinary institute.
Working knowledge of American and European pastries.
Ability to sustain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism.
Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with team members at all levels of the organization.
Ability to provide excellent customer service skills.
Highly organized and detail-oriented.
