Assistant Athletic Trainer

The Assistant Athletic Trainer will serve as the health care professional who works under the direction of the team Physician and Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine to care for the health and welfare of all UTC student-athletes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Works in conjunction with the Team Physician and Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine to provide healthcare for student-athletes
Serves as the primary Athletic Trainer for assigned sports at the discretion of the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine
Serves as co-insurance and billing liaison for assigned sports
Assists with coverage of various sports and athletic competitions
Maintains medical records in electronic medical records injury tracking system for assigned sports
Assists with inventory of supplies
Assists with daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning duties
Serves as clinical preceptor of GATP students/undergraduate intern students

Knowledge of nutrition, strength and conditioning, and concussion protocols
Knowledge of Impact Concussion Management Software

Minimum Qualifications:
Requires a bachelor's degree in athletic training and two years of athletic training experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Experience working with NCAA D1 collegiate athletes and NCAA D1 collegiate football, XC/TF, and wrestling
State of Tennessee athletic training license or license eligible
Certification or certification eligible by the National Athletic Trainer's Association Board of Certification (NATABOC)
First Aid and CPR certification
A valid driver's license is required
Preferred Qualifications:
A master's degree in athletic training or related field and 1-2 years of experience as a certified athletic trainer (can include graduate experience); additional specialty certifications such as dry needling, Graston, etc.
Experience in the following:
o WxSentry Lightning detection system
o Hydro Worx hydrotherapy pools
o Working with a graduate athletic training program
o Working in the Southern Conference
o Collaborating with Erlanger Health System physicians
o Managing a doctor's clinic
o Managing and processing insurance bills and claims
