Job Summary

The School of Education and Behavioral Sciences at Middle Georgia State University is seeking candidates to serve as either as an Assistant Professor or Associate Professor of Special Education. This is a ten-month tenure track teaching and clinical position in the Teacher Education Program and reports to the Chair of Education and Social Work.

Responsibilities

Teach undergraduate and graduate coursework with a 4/4 load; possess knowledge related to face-to-face, on-line, and other distance education delivery systems; supervise clinical and field experiences; and advise undergraduate and graduate students. Teaching responsibilities may include online, hybrid, and/or face-to-face day and/or evening classes. Travel between campuses (Cochran, Dublin, Macon, and Warner Robins) is required. In addition to teaching responsibilities, engage in scholarly activity and participate in service to the university, the School of Education and Behavioral Science, and the community.

Required Qualifications

Required Educational Qualifications

A terminal degree in special education or a related field

Required Experience

A minimum of five years teaching special education in a P-12 setting

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Experience

Experience in teaching in higher education

Experience in supervising teacher candidates

Experience as a cooperating teacher or an instructional coach

Experience in utilizing instructional technology

Other Preferred Qualifications

A focus on high incidence disabilities for P-5, with knowledge/experience with the topics of positive behavior supports and significant behaviors, as well as ASD

Demonstration of a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and scholarly endeavors

Teaching Support and Coaching Endorsement

Other educational endorsements such as Reading, Dyslexia, ESL, Math, STEM, Gifted, etc.
