Job Summary

The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine is seeking a residency-trained, board certified/board eligible Assistant or Associate Professor or Professor. The successful candidate must be committed to excellence in clinical care as well as teaching, administration, and professional development. Preferred experience includes previous experience in providing psychiatric and addiction medicine services to adults, as well as experience in teaching medical students, residents, and other health professionals.

This position will be instrumental to providing ambulatory and inpatient psychiatric services to adults. This position will primarily provide ambulatory psychiatric care and substance use treatment services and will participate in on-call coverage of our Behavioral Health Unit and related inpatient services.

This position may also serve as the Director of Substance Use Services for the Department of Psychiatry and may serve as a member of the department's leadership team. This Director role is responsible for working with ambulatory clinic leadership to manage the daily operations of the SMART Clinic and to provide guidance and leadership in the provision of substance use treatment services within the Department of Psychiatry.

Our Adult Psychiatry and Behavioral Health programs offer an array of specialized programs including: Adult Affective Disorders Clinic, Psychopharmacology, Anxiety Disorders, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Clinic and Supportive Medication Assisted Recovery and Treatment Program (SMART). In addition to our inpatient behavioral health program, we offer outpatient services at our Fountain Court location in Lexington, KY.

Our team of researchers are working to advance the understanding of behavioral health and how behavioral health conditions are managed and treated. Our department has five ACGME-certified residency training programs which focus on training more than 50 physicians each year to become the future leaders in psychiatry.

The Department of Psychiatry's administrative, education and research offices are located near the Hamburg area of Lexington at 245 Fountain Ct., Lexington, KY, 40509. This off-campus location provides free onsite parking for employees and patients as well as a primary care/urgent care clinic and retail pharmacy that is accessible for both patients and employees.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Demonstrated ability to relate and communicate with internal and external faculty, staff, and other clients of the department. Demonstrated experience in leadership of addiction/psychiatry clinical activity and supervision of staff, faculty and residents/learners.
