Job Summary

The College of Public Health is seeking a tenure-track faculty member, whose primary responsibilities will be aligned with the College and University mission of teaching related to health, behavior and society. The faculty member will be expected to pursue activities required for promotion and tenure, including teaching, research, and service. The faculty member will negotiate a yearly distribution of effort with the Chair of the Department of Health, Behavior & Society in consultation with the Dean of the College of Public Health to ensure that adequate time and resources are available to meet both the requirements for promotion and the goals of the Department and the College.

The faculty member in this position will be the primary instructor for at least 18 student credit hours of College of Public Health courses per year, and will foster quality instruction and curriculum development. The individual will also be a member of the Graduate Faculty and will be expected to engage in applied public health research and scholarly activity. Responsibilities include:
1.Teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level. Exact teaching expectations will depend on the faculty period of assignment. For example, nine- month faculty will be expected teach 18 course hours; twelve-month faculty will be expected to teach 21-24 course hours, including summer teaching.
2.Collaboration on curriculum design activities for the department, including expansion of on-line education
3.Represent the department on college and university committees.
4.Engage in research on topical areas complementary with departmental foci, and/or pedagogical research.
5.Participate in other relevant practice and service opportunities at the local, state, and national level.

We invite you to become part of a dynamic group of faculty focused on being a leader in the delivery of interdisciplinary health services. It is expected that the person in this position will collaborate with or provide support and mentorship to other CHS teams conducting health services research, implementation science, comparative effectiveness trials and /or translational research with an emphasis on population health. Applicants should have an established research focus in one or more areas relevant to the College's research interests in health, habilitation, or rehabilitation. The qualified applicant will have an earned doctoral degree focusing on population health or a related field such as (but not limited to) epidemiology, health economics, health promotion, health disparities, patient-centered outcomes, quality of care, or rural health. A strong background in biostatistics and expertise in current research methods to support interdisciplinary health research is required. Rank and salary for this appointment are commensurate with qualifications and experience. Start-up funds will be available to help establish or facilitate research agendas. Primary duties of this position include: participating in scholarly and research productivity as appropriate for assigned Distribution of Effort (DOE) allocation, supporting ongoing project development of other faculty, providing teaching and mentoring to students in the graduate and professional programs including the Rehabilitation Sciences PhD program, and participating in the ongoing mission of the College and community through attendance at meetings, service on committees, etc. The successful candidate will have access to several significant resources including the College's state of the art teaching and clinical facilities, UK's Center for Clinical Translational Sciences, UK's Telehealth program, the Sanders-Brown Center on Aging, advanced neuroimaging capabilities, a contiguous Veteran's Affairs Medical Center, our Human Performance Laboratory, the Sports Medicine Research Institute, the Kentucky Neuroscience Institute, the UK Human Development Institute, and local and public schools. The College of Health Sciences is home to state-of-the-art research laboratories (wet & dry), and maintains strong collaborative ties with colleagues across campus.
