Department Summary

The Department of Medical Imaging Technology (MIT) offers bachelor's degrees in five professional programs which encompass the spectrum of imaging sciences. The curriculum of each bachelor's degree program provides the technical, scientific, and communication skills essential for the application of learned concepts. Each program prepares students for their final eleven-month clinical externship at one of the many affiliated healthcare facilities, maximizing the application of learning in the classroom to their field of study.

Position Summary

The Oregon Tech Department of Medical Imaging Technology invites applications for a full-time, tenure track Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) position at the assistant, associate, or full professor level depending on applicant qualifications. The position is located at our Klamath Falls campus and begins Fall 2024. Qualified candidates will teach college-level courses to students enrolled in our Diagnostic Medical Sonography and other sonographic imaging programs. Oregon Tech is looking for a highly motivated, self-starting individual that can teach one-on-one in the clinical setting as well as in the classroom. This position comes with a competitive salary and excellent benefits package.

Responsibilities include teaching students and providing relevant class/lab experiences needed to assist them in the successful completion of their program. Instruction may take place in a classroom, at determined clinical sites, via distance or online learning web portals.

Our faculty are also responsible for providing student advising relative to academic programs and collaborating with program chair, clinical coordinator, other teaching faculty members of the Medical Imaging Department and the community to support the program and activities of the College of Health, Arts, and Sciences.

All allied health faculty are also responsible for staying current in their field through professional development and continuing education. Faculty in tenure track positions are required to participate in scholarship, including applied research with students and/or faculty.

Minimum Requirements Additional Requirements

  • Bachelors of Science degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or closely related field.

  • Master's of Science degree from an accredited college or university in a healthcare related field.

  • Excellent oral and written interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse professional, community, and student populations.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills

  • Availability to work with students at assigned clinical externship.

  • Develop/maintain lecture and lab curriculum, including outcomes, for sonography-based courses.

  • Ability to evaluate and manage student grades in accordance with established policies.

  • Current licensure, certifications or other designations as required by local, state or federal laws to work in the DMS field.

  • Ability to establish applied research individually or collaboratively with faculty and/or students.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced certifications and specialized clinical experience in the following areas:

  • Abdomen (AB)
  • Breast (BR)
  • Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN)
  • Pediatric Sonography (PS)
  • Fetal Echocardiography (FE)
  • Musculoskeletal Sonography (MSKS)
  • Registered Vascular technologist (RVT)
  • Ault echocardiography (AE)
  • Pediatric echocardiography (PE)
  • Ability to teach physics of sonography principles and instrumentation (SPI)
