POSITION SUMMARY: The Moravian University Helen S.

Breidegam School of Nursing and Public Health is seeking a full-time, clinical faculty member to teach in its Nurse Practitioner program. A family nurse practitioner certification is required. This position will add to a growing academic program with three specialty pathways for nurse practitioner education, including Family/Individual Across the Lifespan, Adult-Gerontology Primary Care, and Adult-Gerontology Acute Care.

Candidates with national certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) are invited to apply. This is a twelve-month, renewable, non-tenure track position with eligibility for promotion in academic rank.

The successful candidate will teach courses required for students in the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) programs. Effectiveness in didactic and clinical instruction with experience and expertise in the nurse practitioner practice role is essential.

The faculty member will be expected to teach and serve within an integrated liberal arts and sciences tradition that values professional and civic engagement. The nursing programs embrace an interdisciplinary, creative, and innovative approach to nursing education that works towards advancing health equity and reducing health disparities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

General

Participates in ongoing curriculum and course revisions with updates to reflect program outcomes, AACN essentials, professional accreditation standards, Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing nursing standards, as well as current evidence, and best practice.

Teaches graduate nurse practitioner students, fostering student learning through positive, constructive student-faculty relationships
Collaborates with the clinical coordinator, clinical agencies, and faculty to optimize the clinical education of graduate nursing students.
Applies evidence from best educational practices to curriculum and new program development.
Contributes to the mission and strategic priorities of the University, the College of Health, and School of Nursing and Public Health.
Participates in the Nursing Faculty Organization and its standing subcommittees within the School of Nursing and Public Health.
Contributes to service at the university, profession, and community.

Complies with University, College, and School policies as outlined in faculty handbooks with regard to issues of employee, patient, and environmental safety and follows appropriate reporting requirements.

Supervision/Mentoring

Serves as an academic advisor for graduate nursing students.
Establishes positive faculty-student relationships with effective intercultural communications in formal and informal contacts.
Serves as a professional role model for students in clinical and classroom settings.
Recruits, mentors, and evaluates clinical faculty.

Teaching

Includes a typical teaching load of ten (10) courses throughout the year with one-course reassignment to maintain professional licensing requirements.
Fosters student learning through a positive student-faculty relationship.
Evaluates student learning outcomes in various classroom, simulation, and clinical agencies.
Evaluates student performance in accordance with established standards defined by professional nursing organizations and further described internally by the Nursing Faculty Organization.
Utilizes pedagogies appropriate for a diverse student population and a pluralistic society.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Preparation as a Family Nurse Practitioner is required.
An earned doctoral degree is preferred (CRNP candidates with significant progress towards a doctoral degree in Nursing will be considered).
A minimum of three years of clinical experience as a nurse practitioner is required.
Have current and unencumbered Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nursing licenses in the state of Pennsylvania
Established national certification as a Nurse Practitioner
Effective verbal and written communication required with other faculty, and administrators,as well as hospital and clinical agency personnel, visitors, and external professional agencies.
Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree preferred.
Demonstrated previous or current competence as a nursing instructor, with experience in simulation, instructional media, technology, and the online learning environment preferred.
