The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Assistant Aquatics Coordinator in the Parks, Recreation & Waterfront Department! In this role, you will have the opportunity to assist in planning, directing and implementing water sports and aquatics center activities. Programs include swim lessons, team aquatics and classes for all ages and experience levels.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is:

Equivalent to graduation from high school and four (4) years of increasingly responsible experience in recreation or aquatics program planning, coordination or leadership which included one (1) year of lead experience in the principles and techniques of effective supervision. College level coursework in recreation, physical education or closely related field may be substituted for the experience on a year for year basis.

Other requirements include:

  • American Red Cross Lifeguard/First Aid certification

  • American Red Cross Title 22 Certification

  • American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification

  • Valid California Driver's License

Desirable within six months of appointment: American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor certificate, Certified Pool Operator certificate.

EXAM PROCESS

The exam process will include, but is not limited to:

  • Application review for minimum qualifications and required documents

  • Training and Experience review

Tests may consist of any combination of written, oral or other exercises or assessment procedures that test content and may include, but are not necessarily limited to, typing, math, reading, writing and analytical skills; problem solving ability; computer and software proficiency, or any other job-related knowledge, skill, ability or qualification. The examination process and dates are subject to change.

The City may, without notice, change or eliminate any assessment component as needs dictate. Applicants passing all examination phases will have their names placed on an employment eligible list that hiring departments will use to conduct final selection interviews.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT PROCESS
