Position Description
Advertised Job Summary
This Assistant Director for Campus Visits position covers the broad nature of visitor services functioning, including the campus visit program, and all aspects of carrying out the mission of the USC Visitor Center and meeting the University's recruitment goals through the management of a comprehensive campus visit program. The Assistant Director for Campus Visits manages all aspects of the campus visit program to include prospective undergraduate and graduate students, parents of prospective students and group visits.
This individual is also responsible for ongoing assessment of the campus visit programs to refine programs and services and to enhance the visit for a growing and increasingly diverse population of prospective students. The Assistant Director also supervises the Coordinator(s) for Campus Visits to ensure a smooth delivery of services and appropriate record keeping is in place.
This position does require some nights and weekend availability. Twenty percent of the position responsibilities can be done remotely.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a bachelor's degree and 3 or more years of experience, which may be substituted by equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Assessment skills, experience in volunteer supervision, use of content- management systems.Prefer two years of experience in higher education. Knowledge of college admissions/enrollment management, student recruitment, campus visit programming, and volunteers a plus.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Must be able to plan, implement, and evaluate programs. Must have a proven record of relating well to people, have an engaging personality, and be able to speak with confidence in front of the diverse constituency base that visits the University
Job Duties
Job Duty
Supervise a comprehensive campus visit program to meet University recruitment goals and the needs of a wide variety of University constituents, to include prospective graduate, transfer and first-year students. This duty also involves careful planning and analysis of workflow and excellent communication both within the Visitor Center and throughout the University. Oversee the process for responding to visit inquiries. This individual will also lead creative solutions for the development of unique visit activities that serve to better inform prospective students while creating a seamless visit experience. This duty also involves significant assessment and reporting of progress toward departmental strategic goals.
Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 50 Job Duty
Develops creative solutions for meeting the needs of special populations to include but not limited to group visit requests, admitted student programming and external partnership requests. Works directly with the Director of the Visitor Center to manage special visit requests.
Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 20 Job Duty
Provides oversight for the tour reservation system, including all correspondence between the Visitor Center and University Technology Services and Web Communications to ensure that the system is up to date and functioning at an optimal level. Also considers necessary enhancements to further support an effectively managed campus visit program and the utilization of visit information to support assessment initiatives. This duty will require significant planning and communication as well as careful testing, training, and execution of enhancements.

Directs the Coordinator for Campus Visits in the management of group visit programming, student employee scheduling and presidential ambassador assignments to carry out the mission of the Visitor Center and meet enrollment goals. Provides oversight in the process for planning and executing coverage for weekend activities.
Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 10 Job Duty
Lends support to managing the portals of the University including the tour desk and telephones as needed to support the overall functioning of the Visitor Center. Assists in the administering of assessments to student employees.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Director.
