Assistant Coach, Men's & Women's Cross Country and Distance Track

Position Summary:

The Assistant Coach for Men's & Women's Cross Country and Distance Track is a part-time hourly position which reports to the Head Coach for Men's & Women's Cross Country & Track. This position is a crucial role in supporting the Head Coach with recruiting, coaching, and mentoring student-athletes within the Men's and Women's Cross Country and Distance Track program.

Westminster University is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA II) and the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist the head coach with the recruitment and retention of qualified men's and women's cross country and distance track student-athletes.

• Assist the head coach with administrative tasks as assigned.

• Organize and supervise practices and help plan team schedule and travel as assigned.

• Assist with the inventory and maintenance of apparel and equipment.

• Compliance with institutional, conference, and national governing regulations.

• Assist with fundraising and outreach efforts for the program.

• Commitment to welfare and development of student-athletes within the NCAA II philosophy.

• Work closely with other staff to promote intercollegiate athletics as an integral part of the college learning environment and support the academic success of student-athletes.

• Perform all responsibilities with the highest ethical standards consistent with the University's mission, vision, and values which include diversity, equity, and inclusion

• Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field.

• A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.

• Valid AED, CPR & First Aid certifications, or the ability to complete certifications once hired.

• Ability to work independently.

• Ability to demonstrate cross country and distance track skills.

• Effective motivational skills.

• Strong organizational skills.

• Strong interpersonal and public relation communication skills.

• Ability to create a positive atmosphere conducive to learning.

• Ability to work in a team-oriented environment with high standards and goals.

• Commitment to high professional and ethical standards.
