Job Description
Lead coverage of breaking/developing news stories both editorially and logistically for both the newsroom and field crews
Research, coordinate, pitch & implement coverage of breaking news, continuing coverage and human-interest stories
Ability to quickly assess what is needed on coverage of a breaking stories
Ability to find & book experts and community members who help define a story
Collaborate with the website, social media, and streaming teams
Initiate & maintain communication with affiliates & News Channel counterparts
Consistently monitor and break news through social media platforms and tools
Establish & maintain working story & contact files
Qualifications
Qualifications/ Requirements
Working Knowledge of Police Scanners
Working knowledge of live production/transmission
Able to work independently and as a member of a team
Ability to clearly communicate ideas and status updates to both editorial and technical teams
Bachelor's degree in Journalism or Communications.
At least 4 years' experience including: work in a broadcast news environment, coordinating assignments, generating story ideas.
Two years' experience as an Assignment Editor.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Bilingual - Spanish/English
