The position is open to all current state employees that meet the minimum qualifications below.

The Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) is seeking highly qualified applicants for their fulltime Asset Specialist position in the Office of Administrative Services. This position manages and administers the physical assets/property program for the Technical College System of Georgia. Ensures all physical assets are categorized, tagged, entered, and maintained within the inventory management databases; establishes and/or administers the agency physical audit inventory, reconciliation and disposal guidelines, process and procedures; provides training to TCSG colleges on state asset guidelines and procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Daily maintenance of TCSG's system office assets as recorded in the financial system (Teamworks) and internal databases including descriptions, locations, custodians, profile IDs, serial numbers and amounts

  • Develop, maintain and manage internal policies, procedures and systems to ensure efficient operations

  • Provide assistance in preparation of year-end financial statements and audits with regard to capital assets

  • Annual physical inventory and monthly asset reconciliations

  • Compiles and distributes monthly and annual reporting to colleges and system office

  • Serves as system office liaison for asset management training for college personnel

  • Maintains required documentation and completes reports as needed

  • Works closely with State of Georgia DOAS and SPC divisions, including RMS, fleet, surplus and state property compliance

  • Other duties as assigned

o Physical inventory requirements may require lifting and bending

o Statewide travel will be required periodically

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associates degree *and

  • Three (3) years of related work experience

  • Note: Experience may substitute for the degree on a year for year basis

  • A minimum of 1 year experience with State of Georgia Teamwork Asset Management System.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum qualifications and post-secondary education in accounting, finance, business management or related field.

  • Experience with the State of Georgia's CLCP requirements

  • Experience with State of Georgia BLLIP System

  • Experience with State of Georgia Surplus Property

  • Experience with State of Georgia OFM Fleet Management

  • Proficiency with EXCEL

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

  • Skill in the use of computers and job related software

  • Skill in planning and organizing projects

  • Skill in oral and written communication

  • Skill in interpersonal relations and effective problem solving methods

  • Skill in analyzing data and situations for accurate assessment

  • Ability to work with staff and faculty in integrating effective assessment practices

  • Ability to supervise, advise, and mentor staff
