Asset Protection/Safety Specialist

Overview

The Asset Protection/Workplace Safety Specialist is responsible for the protection of assets in assigned area of responsibility with special emphasis on reducing losses due to shrink, workers compensation, general liability and theft.

This positions primarily supports Kj's Market and IGA, but could support all retail brands. The ideal areas to be located are Columbia, SC, Greenville/Spartanburg, SC, Aiken, SC, or Augusta, GA.

Travel is required. Relocation may be required.

Responsibilities

Accountable for achieving total store shrink targets in assigned area.

Responsible for implementation of the corporate safety program and safety training in assigned area Accountable for workers compensation and general liability results as measured by accident frequency and total dollars lost vs. target.

Conducts investigations involving major loss in assigned stores. Interacts with all departments and makes recommendations that will minimize losses and improve safety. Represents the company in any criminal, civil, or government hearings related to activity in assigned area.

Responsible for completing required audits and follow up audits in assigned area.

Responsible for the training of salaried and hourly employees on Asset Protection topics. Responsible for identifying and evaluating loss trends and developing and implementing solutions.

Records incidents involving loss into the APIS database. Works with corporate hiring managers to organize new host orientations Attends division meetings to share results, provide direction and training for Store Managers. Performs lock or safe combination changes and minor locksmith repairs as necessary.

Responsible for maximizing human and physical capital to ensure best use of resources. Accountable for the protection of the company's physical assets. Supervise store asset protection agents assigned to stores addressing external theft issues.

Qualifications

Possess the level of business sophistication and knowledge generally associated with a Bachelor's Degree plus 3-5 years progressive experience in store management. The incumbent is required to have a working knowledge of supermarket operations and comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of shrink, workers compensation, general liability and investigative techniques.
