The Asset Protection Analyst will independently collect and analyze transaction data to identify fraudulent activity in retail systems and ensure compliance with company asset protection policies. Provide asset protection analytical support to Regional Asset Protection Managers and upper Management. Conduct cash over/short, bank debit adjustments and fraudulent credit card investigation with data provided by the sales audit and cash management.


  • Initiate quality case leads for investigations and provide data and investigative support that will lead to successful case closures.

  • Investigate potential losses identified through aspect, sales audits, leads, tips, etc. and provide investigation work up to field Asset Protection Team.

  • Review data and analyze exceptions to identify behaviors that contribute to shrink and loss to the company.

  • Work with AP Teams and cross functional partners in order to fully prepare cases of loss for investigation and resolution.

  • Create and maintain management reports to track exceptions and provide analytical data to the field Asset Protection team.

  • Refine exception parameters and develop reports based on the needs of the business.

  • Seek opportunities to best utilize Exception Applications through industry benchmarking, User Groups, and working closely with Application Providers.

  • Interact with various levels of management to provide support on projects and investigations as needed.

  • Strong working knowledge of LPMS, Vigil, 3XLogics systems of other similar technology systems.

  • Acts as liaison between Legal, Risk Management, and Human Resources or other business partners to ensure compliance of LPMS system and other components of liability.

  • Abide to the Code of Business Conduct and Ethics Policy.

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls as applicable to your function within the organization.


  • 2-3 years of experience in Data Analysis and/or Loss Prevention/Asset Protection.

  • Strong fundamental business and analytical skills. Ability to analyze data and use deductive reasoning to quickly surface patterns that may be fraud related.

  • Solid understanding and working knowledge of POS based Exception Reporting.

  • Solid oral and written communication skills in order to effectively communicate with all departments and management level within the company.

  • Financial and statistical modeling a plus.

  • Ability to relate and understand investigative processes in order to successfully contribute to the resolution of internal cases.

  • Proficiency in Excel and Access including the ability to write queries and import/export data as needed.

  • Strong self-discipline and focus required; ability to work on multiple cases simultaneously.

  • Must be very thorough and detail oriented.

  • Must be able to work independently and on multiple projects and complete/meet timelines.

  • Strong working knowledge/understanding and usage of Excel (Pivot Table), Word, Powerpoint.

VIEW JOBS 10/8/2020 12:00:00 AM 2021-01-06T00:00 The Asset Protection Market Manager is responsible for protecting the assets of 99 Cent Only Stores, Inc. while achieving shortage and safety goals for assigned stores/district(s). This is done by managing, promoting, and directing all Assets Protection initiatives and programs within the assigned group of stores and by developing and maintaining strong partnerships at the store and market levels. Through effective Operations and Human Resources partnerships, the APML implements company-driven shortage and safety solutions while providing regular direction and leadership to minimize operational shortage, mitigate theft and fraud, and maintain safe and secure environments for 99 Cent Only associates and customers. The APMM will also work with other cross-functional groups to ensure integrated solutions positively impact shortage control and accident reduction initiatives. Duty or Responsibilities: * Establishes and maintains communication avenues with Store and Market/District Management, the Community Relations & Asset Protection Department, key Company stakeholders, and outside agencies to ensure that established goals and objectives are being met to minimize loss of profits and achieve comprehensive shrink goals. * Executes and aids in developing policies to minimize shrink, risk, and ensure compliance to company policy by conducing store based assets protection reviews/audits and provide guidance to store personnel on detecting and preventing shrink. * Aggressively identify, investigate, and resolve all internal and external theft and fraud, striving to minimize the impact of loss to the company and address new types of theft and fraud developing in the retail industry. Proactively identifies and report on potential and actual exposure to loss of company assets utilizing exception based reporting systems and assets protections applications such as Vigil, Vigil trends, CCTV, and LPMS * Leverage exceptions and store reporting systems to identify theft activity (including cash shortages) in assigned stores/market. * Aid the Market Assets Protection Director and Training Business Partners in any and all in store/market daily coaching/training, store specific focus trainings, to include Intensive Care Store trainings. * Be the subject matter expert on physical security, store alarms, and all assets protection/ loss prevention systems to support the Community Relations & Assets Protection Department, Store Support Center, Stores, and IT Department. * Support assigned stores/market(s)/ during annual (and/or semi-annual) inventory process. External Basic Qualifications * High School Diploma/GED and at least 3 years of loss prevention/asset protection, safety and/or retail operations experience. Experience in driving successful assets protections/loss prevention, shortage control, accident reduction and fraud prevention programs. * Self-motivated individual who can be successful in a fast-paced environment, with minimal supervision. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong presentation skills. * Must demonstrate the ability to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities. * Excellent analytical skills and demonstrated ability to solve problems. * Proven ability to make good decisions under pressure. * Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented. * Maintains confidentiality concerning all information and projects. * Values and exhibits the highest level of personal integrity. * Must have proficiency in and knowledge of computer software including MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint). * Knowledge of and previous experience with Loss Prevention technologies (including CCTV systems and exception reporting systems) is advantageous Preferred Qualifications * Bachelor's Degree * Certification in Wicklander-Zulawski, and LPC/CFI designation. * At least 3 years of experience operating asset protection systems and facility equipment. * At least 1 year of cross-functional team leadership experience. * Experience in managing multiple locations with a market/district. * At least 1 year of experience analyzing, evaluating, and/or presenting information to support teams.
