Provides technical and analytical information management solutions through the use of software and databases for domestic or international projects.
Functions in a GIS Specialist capacity under general supervision, performs moderately complex aspects of data administration, creation, analysis, reporting, mapping and/or application development. Applies knowledge of geospatial and information management principles to prescribed techniques and procedures to complete project assignments.
Performs analytical, technical, and/or developmental tasks, such as:
Responsible for providing support to senior Information Solutions staff for a variety of geospatial and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems / Enterprise Asset Management Systems (CMMS/EAMS) solutions and services
Responsible for data editing and manipulation and ensuring data accuracy based on quality assurance / quality control guidelines
Support senior staff on projects related to water, waste/storm water utility modeling and master plans, asset management program assessments and development projects, facility integrity/condition assessment studies, and analysis projects.
Ensures compliance with project requirements of accuracy / specifications for scope of service and overall quality.
Establishes and maintains required files to document data references, analytical methods, calculations and rationale used in reaching conclusions.
Performs additional tasks specific to an area of expertise or technology.
Develops GIS-based tools, applications, databases, or similar solutions.
Desired experience includes familiarity and proficiency in the following GIS and information management solutions:
Managing and editing data through Esri's suite of applications including but not limited to: ArcGIS Desktop and ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise (Server), Collector, Survey123, Operations Dashboard, Story Maps, etc.
Desire to learn new software including: CMMS, cloud, mobile, analytics, business intelligence, visualization and data blending applications.
Microsoft Office suite of applications including: Word, Excel, Access, PowerBI, PowerPoint and productivity apps.
The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to develop expertise in the integration of GIS with technologies such as custom program management dashboards, CMMS, SCADA, IoT and hydraulic modeling.
Additional qualifications include:
Bachelor's degree in GIS, Physical, Earth, Life Science, Engineering, or Computer Science from an accredited university; or equivalent job-related work experience.
1+ years of experience in a dynamic and diverse information analysis environment.
Excellent time / data management, communication, and interpersonal skills required.
Enthusiastic about learning, pushing technical limits, and finding new solutions.
Experience with the following is considered advantageous:
Exposure to engineering-related concepts and functions (i.e., technical experience in GIS support of water distribution or wastewater collection systems).
Familiarity with basic to moderately complex relational databases and asset hierarchies
Bachelors' degree in Physical, Earth, or Life Science from an accredited university; or equivalent job-related experience. Typically a minimum of 1 year of experience performing related activities. Good knowledge of GIS applications / development tools as applicable. Exposure to engineering-related concepts and functions desired. UK Qualification: Working towards industry recognised qualification or chartership e.g. RGS chartered Geographer.
