The Virginia Information Technologies Agency (VITA) is seeking a qualified Asset Accounting Analyst to perform accounting and analytical tasks related to fixed assets, leases, and subscription-based IT arrangements (SBITAs) in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). This position will be responsible for preparing monthly financial reports, financial statements, and account reconciliations to include but are not limited to GASB 87 lease data and GASB 96 SBITA data. This position will also assist in the preparation of the fiscal year-end financial statements to be submitted and included in the Commonwealth's Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR). Additional duties include preparation of work papers with appropriate supporting documentation for audit purposes to establish and demonstrate compliance.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience applying knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) policies and other governmental accounting principles, policies, and procedures.
Demonstrated experience applying and monitoring internal controls related to fixed assets, leases, and subscription-based IT arrangements.
Advanced level ability to create, analyze and research accounting entries and create custom SQL reports with financial data.
Possess an aptitude for preparing financial reports and statements (especially for fiscal yearend reporting) for a financially complex agency.
Considerable experience in a governmental accounting environment.
Possess the ability to accurately review, interpret, and apply regulations, policies, and procedures.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing to diverse audiences.
Demonstrate the ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and duties.
Possess a proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Access, and Word softwar
Additional Considerations
Business-related field or equivalent applicable experience, and/or training.
Demonstrated ability to perform complex analyses pertaining to lease terms and asset accounting.
Experience working in the state's automated accounting system (Cardinal), PeopleSoft Financials and other accounting software programs
