The Assessment Specialist is responsible for the timely development, validation, and delivery of reliable and predictive assessments and for overseeing all the moving pieces from ideation and pilots to distribution and analysis. In conjunction with the Assessment Development Manager, the Assessment Specialist ensures that products meet and exceed the highest standards and owns the successes and failures of the items. The Assessment Specialist must have an understanding of the market, customer needs, competition, and topic/subject matter.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates and leads item review sessions with facilitators and recruits new facilitators.

  • Assists with exam blueprinting by selecting items from existing banks to correspond to topic areas determined by psychometricians.

  • Assists with pilot testing by soliciting attempts and preparing documentation.

  • Reviews and edits items to ensure adherence to style guidelines.

  • Plan and support item writing workshops and advisory committee meetings.

  • Exports items in various formats as needed by collaborators

  • Assists the Assessment Development Manager with special research projects and management of annual research summit.

  • Communicates assessment requirements to all stakeholders, including partners, authors, contributors, freelancers, and pilot participants.

  • Tracks and reports on success and failure of assessments to understand performance and implement modifications, as needed.

  • Supports test security efforts by monitoring online content-sharing sites on a weekly basis and submitting reports of copyright infringement.

  • Manages product plans for on-time development, validation, and release.

Education and Experience:

  • At least 2 years of professional experience developing, delivering, and managing standardized testing; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Delivers exceptional customer experience in all customer touch points, whether direct or via colleagues.

  • Displays self-discipline to carry tasks to completion without oversight.
