Position Summary

This position oversees institution-wide assessment as well as institutional initiatives to support the college's commitment to continuous improvement and academic compliance. The position works collaboratively with established committees, faculty, staff, and students to design, develop, implement, and provide reports on institutional, program-level, co-curricular, and general education assessments in support of the college's mission. This position also creates institutional processes and monitors key institutional indicators, ensuring the integrity of data/information released in reports or studies, and provides data analysis, reporting, or research as needed to support institutional objectives.

Duties & Responsibilities

Job Functions

Coordinate Curricular Assessment:

  • Assists the chair of the Outcomes Assessment Committee (OAC) of Student learning.

  • Coordinates OAC membership, schedules meetings, creates agendas, posts minutes on the Curricular Web page, collects and publishes assessment resources, collects course lists from Directors to track course assessments and manages email.

  • Assists the chair of the OAC to orient new faculty on College-wide Student Learning Outcomes

  • Supports the OAC chair to collect faculty Student Learning Outcomes rubric data via SurveyMonkey or other means as deemed appropriate.

  • Works with OAC to host an Annual Curricular Assessment Day for faculty, Academic Directors to compile, share, review, and identify strategies for improvement. Publishes information on the webpage.

  • Collaborates and works closely with the OAC, Academic Directors and VPISS to update and publish the Institution's Curricular Assessment Plan and a Curricular/SLO Annual Report.

  • Chair the Co-curricular assessment committee with activities coordination.

  • Coordinates committee membership, schedules meetings, creates agendas, posts minutes on the Co-curricular Web-page, collects and publishes co-curricular assessment plans and reports on the Co-curricular Assessment Web-page and manage email.

  • Ensures and facilitates the collaboration between the Co-curricular Assessment Committee and Student Life/Student Activities Coordinator/Student Senate, Academic Directors, and other student- centered offices to host an Annual Co-curricular Assessment Meeting/Retreat to compile, share, and review data to identify improvement strategies. Post on the webpage.

  • Coordinates meetings between the co-curricular assessment committee and student life to host co-curricular activities that address co-curricular student learning outcomes.

  • Inventory Co-curricular activities via Google Sheets or other system and publish on the Co-curricular Web-page.

Coordinate Program Level Assessment (PLA):

  • Meets frequently with Academic Directors to document their PLA reporting progress and keep the Office of the VPISS informed on progress.

  • Through the interaction with Academic Directors, identify Professional Development needs and coordinate Professional Development related to PLA training with the Office of the VPISS.

  • Collect PLA Reports from each academic department.

  • Work with web administrator to publish PLA Reports on designated academic webpage.

Coordinate General Education Assessment (GEA):

  • Work with Gen Ed Committee to document GEA reporting progress.

  • Collect information for GEA Plans and prepare report to HED.

  • Work with web administrator to publish GEA Report on designated academic webpage.

HLC Accreditation and NMHED compliance activities:

  • Works closely with the College's Accreditation Liaison Officer to the Higher Learning Commission.

  • Collaborates with the College's institutional NMHED Liaison.

  • Stays current with HLC policies and procedures.

  • Collaborates with the HLC Liaison to create responses to HLC inquiries regarding assessment.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge

  • Knowledge of the policies, curricula and academic structure of the College.

  • Knowledge of the general format, content and use of college schedules and course catalogs.

  • Knowledge and expertise with FERPA.

  • Knowledge of SurveyMonkey, Qualtrix and Google Docs.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community both orally and in writing.

  • Strong data and records management skills.

  • Strong client relations skills.

  • Critical computer skills.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.

Work Environment

  • Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. The worker sits most of the time.

  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading and visual inspection.

  • The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.

Education, Experience and Licenses

  • Master's Degree is required or a combination of education and experience.

  • 2 years of professional assessment experience in a college/university environment is preferred.

  • Experience working with Jenzabar and or Workday student modules is preferred.

  • Data management skills: Access, Excel, a programming language (SAS, R, SQL, etc).is preferred

  • Experience reporting to federal and state agencies, the NM Higher Education Department and the Higher Learning Commission is preferred.
