GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Safely performs a variety of operations necessary to produce piston valves for all families of brass wind instruments.

• Job duties include material handling, machine set-up and valve assembly.

• Properly and carefully handle all instruments and components.

• Routinely inspects assigned work to ensure compliance with established job standards.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

• Required to safely and carefully move, lift, and maneuver all raw materials, work in process, component parts, or finished parts (up to 30 lbs.) to assigned locations, either by hand or by mechanical means.

• Required to correctly and accurately set-up, and maintain set-up specifications for all related equipment, tooling, and fixtures required for the assembly and machining of all piston valves.

• Required to maintain storage locations for all of the involved component parts or assembly plates and fixtures.

• Required to safely bright dip all component parts, by lifting and carrying baskets of parts to the plating dept.

• Carefully combine, align, and secure (following prescribed methods) the correct combination of parts for each assigned valve assembly.

• Required to move sets of enclosed valve assemblies to the pasting bench for subsequent brazing paste application.

• Required to maintain an appropriate, clean, and safe work environment.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Required to stand or sit for extended periods.

• Ability to use a variety of hand tools, measuring devices (micrometers and calipers, etc.) Use of related manufacturing equipment and operating controls.

• Required to properly dispose of or recycle any scrap material generated by any assigned production operation, and are required to maintain an appropriate, clean and safe work environment.

• Ability to make sound judgment based on consistent and objective measures.

• Exposure to manufacturing environment, including dust, noise and vibration.
