Position Summary:

Under close supervision, performs routine and simple tasks in support of assembly, other process operations, or production testing.

Essential Functions:

  • Work safely and without injury.

  • Performs assembly duties as assigned using standard procedures, tools, materials, machines and equipment.

  • Performs disassembly and cleaning.

  • Follows well-established guidance from specified process instructions, blueprints, and verbalized instructions from other team members.

  • Cleans and Maintains work area.

  • Utilizes hand and power tools, builds sub-assemblies, mounts components and parts to assemblies.

  • May rotate into other positions within the team or to another team as required to meet production requirements.

  • May participate in defining strategies to meet quality objectives and in system reviews within the team.

  • Implements the Quality Policy and Procedures in all aspects of daily duties and responsibilities.

  • Participates in team meetings as required (safety, problem solving, etc.).

  • Problem-solves individually or as part of a group as job duties require.

  • Responsible for prompt and regular attendance as scheduled.

  • May be required to work overtime.

  1. Completely trained and competent in 1-3 different assembly cells.

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Up to two years experience in assembly.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must possess basic reading, writing, and computation skills.

  • Ability to continuously improve and learn new skills.

  • Must possess good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to work collaboratively and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.

  • Ability to effectively problem-solve.

  • Good communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.

Language Skills and Mathematical


Ability to read, write, verbalize and comprehend instructions and correspondence in English. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations to team members and customers as job duties require. Conflict resolution skills. Good interpersonal skills. Must have basic computation skills equivalent to education requirement. Higher skills may be required depending on actual job duties.

Physical and Visual Activities:

Standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, balancing, stooping, reaching, handling, feeling, talking, hearing, acuity-far, acuity-near, depth perception and field of vision.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is continuously standing, repetitively grasping and repetitively using fine manipulation with the hands. The team member may be frequently required to walk, bend, squat, or twist as well as repetitively push or pull frequently up to 20 pounds and occasionally 50 pounds.

Environment/Atmospheric Conditions:

This position is performed in a shop environment. Team members in this position may be exposed to loud operating machinery, cold temperatures, hot temperatures, chemicals and vapors. The team member may occasionally be required to work in an office environment.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Setup, troubleshoot and operate Press 932. Consists of setting up a punch press with rule dies, loading stacks of materials onto two lift tables, creating and uploading job programs. * Must be able to clear, roller flatten, inspect, weight count, pack finish product and keep up with press operating in auto mode. * Perform computer functions to program jobs as necessary. * Follow the Quality Management System requirements as outlined in the process notes on the press card, the applicable QMS procedure and work instructions; and suggests ways for continual improvement. * Promptly report quality problems and shut down the equipment if unable to resolve. * Maintain a clean and orderly work area. * Follow safety rules and regulations, participates in safety meetings and suggest ways for continual improvement. * Promptly report personal injuries and unsafe conditions and helps to resolve them. * Understand FMPS and lean manufacturing concepts and the importance of the line status boards. * Willing and able to cross train in other departments within the Value Stream. * Perform related duties as assigned REQUIREMENTS: COMPETENCIES REQUIRED: * Read and understand bills of material, routings, work instructions and other shop paperwork. * Ability to read and interpret blueprints and mylars. * Ability to read and understand documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. * Complete forms correctly and legibly. * Perform computer functions to be able to setup and operate equipment. * Perform simple math calculations. * Understand quality criteria on parts produced. * Interpersonal skills necessary to exchange information with a variety of staff. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: * Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds on a daily basis. * Ability to walk and move about, stoop and bend, and climb (ascend and descend) ladders. * Ability to stand for an 8 hour shift. * Ability to reach and grab with arms and hands, and manual dexterity to operate machines with precision. * Normal or corrected vision necessary to read directions and closely examine parets; and to distinguish colors. * Normal hearing in order to detect equipment and motor malfunctions. * Ability to pull lifts and transport products to and from various locations within the assigned location. WORKING CONDITIONS: * Works in areas that can be uncomfortable due to noise, odors, and temperature extremes. * Works regularly with machines where carelessness could result in serious injury and cuts, bruises, or muscle pulls.
