Moog Space and Defense Group in Chatsworth is looking for a Assembler Technician. Moog produces mechanisms for spacecraft motion control with design and flight heritage expanding over 45 years. With origins from historic programs such as Apollo and Pioneer to present-day satellite programs, Moog brings heritage-based solutions to spacecraft mechanisms technology. The spacecraft mechanisms facility in Chatsworth, California includes a fully-integrated engineering/design, manufacturing and test capability. Moog spacecraft products are flexible to meet customer requirements for a wide breadth of applications ranging from commercial to government flight programs

Here's what you can expect on a day-to-day basis:

  • Performs precision assembly on complex production and repair actuators.

  • Adjusts or aligns through shimming and other means of mechanical adjustments specified by blueprint or other specification limits.

  • Utilizes a variety of mechanical measuring equipment such as: Dial indicators, calipers and indicating micrometers to obtain proper assembly-build requirements.

  • Maintains dimensional accuracy on assemblies utilizing torque wrenches, fixtures, tooling, gages and other measuring devices. Required to work from assembly instructions, both written and oral.

  • Performs various test operations on production or repair mechanical actuators using necessary, mechanical and electronic test equipment, fixtures and tools.

  • Diagnoses common test failures and recommends or performs rework to' correct discrepancies.

  • Holds problem units for engineering disposition.

  • Ensures that units are set up and tested in conformance with current revision letters and brings to the Supervisor's attention any condition that is abnormal.

  • Responsible for testing repair models for conformance to acceptance test procedures that are normally part of his/her expertise.

  • Utilizes mechanical or electronic measuring equipment and performs tests to validate the acceptance of the model to current test requirements.

  • Responsible for proper documentation of parts replaced and work performed on data sheets.

We'll be looking for you to have the following:

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Preferred to have trade certificate from Aerospace Trade School

  • Prior experience in aerospace mechanical assembly

  • Strong mechanical aptitude

  • Ability to learn quickly, work well under pressure, and lead others to do the same

Position Summary and Responsibilities * Performs testing and inspection to ensure product meets specifications requirements and standards. * Analyzes and interprets test data. Provides technical reports, graphs and charts as part of the failure troubleshooting process. * Recommends changes in test methods/assembly process or equipment to Engineering. * Participates in failure analysis and corrective action through Material Review Board process. * Sets up, operates, trouble shoots and programs machinery, equipment, and fixtures in accordance with written procedures/drawings. * Trains others in various areas. * Assembling/manufacturing components and or products in accordance with written procedures/drawings. * Performs intermediate assembly tasks. * Follows all written and or verbal instructions and routings. * Performs other duties as assigned. * Takes ownership for productivity, quality, and overall workmanship. * Reports any identifiable job related discrepancies. * Complies with procedures, policies, and safety instructions. * Ensures proper operation of equipment and processes they set up. * Ensure all safety equipment devices are in place and procedures are followed. * Responsible for alerting management to all safety concerns and potential hazards.
