The FOCA Assembler at Daylight Defense will be responsible for material preparation, optical-mechanical assembly, material inspection and calibration in a manufacturing environment. The candidate will also perform rework on assemblies and/or systems in response to failures and nonconformance. This position requires a self-motivated, ambitious individual with the ability to work in a busy and rapidly changing manufacturing environment.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Follows written work instructions
Works under minimal supervision on duties and tasks that are frequently non-routine, adapting procedures, techniques, tools, materials and/or equipment to meet special needs
May perform more detailed tasks requiring deeper knowledge and experience in the specified processes and procedures
Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish assigned goals
Able to effectively communicate with other functional departments, such as Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, and Sales departments
Resolves most questions and problems, referring only the most complex issues to higher levels
Be a self-starter and demonstrate good decision making ability
Must maintain a safe work environment by adhering to all safety procedures including those which govern the handling of materials, chemicals, tools, and equipment (WHMIS)
Proper use of required PPE
May periodically assist in orienting and training employees
May participate in LEAN Events, "Six S" activities, action teams etc.
Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
Build electro-optical assemblies to meet performance specifications, in particular fiber optic cable assemblies
Perform incoming inspection for mechanical components utilizing standard inspection tools
Calipers, height gauge, gauge pins, finish standards
Record work artifacts clearly and accurately on inspection reports, production tickets, and computer databases
Troubleshoot and perform problem isolation on LRU sub-assembly components
Maintain data systems to record and report test results
Maintain a professional work space and environment
Set up and maintain work stations
Meet output and quality goals
Provide continuous improvement feedback on procedures and processes
Maintain cleanroom environment
Perform engineering-designed experiments
Utilize online databases to transact material, and review drawings and bills of material
Able to work extended hours if necessary
Other duties as required
High school diploma required with 5 years assembler experience
Laser, photonics or high technology manufacturing is desired
Familiarity with clean room protocol desired
Requires US Citizenship
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance is desired
