Job Summary:

This unique role at ENGEL Machinery Inc will be a combination of Field Service Technician and working within the York, PA Automation assembly workshop.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assembles ENGEL machinery to meet customer specifications, including electrical mechanical and hydraulic assembly in the York workshop. 35%

  • Performs electrical assembly and rewires machines to customer specifications. This includes relays, connectors, switches, breakers, new wiring, electrical panel work.

  • Performs mechanical assembly by Installing or removing sheet metal parts and mechanical assemblies on machines as needed. Adds components to match customer specifications. Marries clamp and injection units of machine together, levels the machine, and ensures all electrical, hydraulic and water connections are sound for testing. Upon completion, packages machine for transport to customer to ensure no damage upon arrival.

  • Performs hydraulic assembly: during retrofits, installs manifolds, runs hoses, rebuilds, or replaces valves as required by customer specifications.

  • Performs start-up processing and machine testing.

  • Connects water and electric to assembled machines to test.

  • Upon start-up, checks all systems for functionality, and troubleshoots electrical, hydraulic and water systems, correcting any deficiencies.

  • Installs software update if needed.

  • Performs final test with machine in production to ensure 100% operation for customer.

  • Performs Field Service duties of ENGEL machinery and auxiliary equipment to meet customer specifications, including electrical mechanical and hydraulic assembly at the customer site. 35%

  • Installation and commissioning of new equipment

  • Troubleshooting new and existing equipment to diagnose operating issues

  • Installation of parts to remedy operating issues

  • Installation of retrofits

  • Complete all necessary forms, checklists, reports, etc. to support field service duties

  • Works with electrical, software, hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic systems

  • Assembles ENGEL automation machinery to meet customer specifications, including electrical mechanical and hydraulic assembly in the York Automation assembly workshop. 20%

  • Works from engineered plans, bills of material, and work instructions to assemble and test ENGEL Automation equipment, including 3-axis and 6-axis robots, and auxiliary equipment

  • Perform mechanical assembly, install electrical components, complete wiring, install pneumatic components, complete connections of pneumatic system components

  • Prepares equipment for testing

  • Performs tests, ranging from basic testing to final acceptance testing when required

  • Prepares equipment for shipment

  • Performs other duties or special projects as required or as assigned by a supervisor. 10%

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Educational/Training Requirement:

  • High school diploma or GED required. Some vocational/technical school preferred.

  • Knowledge of National Electricians Codes (NEC)

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years related experience is required.

  • Read and interpret electrical circuits, mechanical blueprints, diagrams, and schematics.

  • Experience with 3-phase electrical wiring including motors, motor controls, transformers, PLCs,1 phase 120Vac and 24vdc for control circuits, switches, sensors, and transmitters.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient with the following equipment: hand tools used in the electrical, mechanical and hydraulic trades, forklifts, overhead cranes, jib cranes, boom and scissor lifts, volt and amp meters, soldering irons, drill presses, sanders, grinders and saw and bench grinders.

  • Ability to follow specific instructions.

  • Ability to adhere to relevant work processes, work sequences and standards.

  • Good communications skills as role exchanges information on a daily with co-workers and immediate manager, employees in other departments and department managers.

  • Customer-oriented attitude is a plus.

  • Able to read blueprints.

  • Knowledge of injection molding machines is an asset.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand for long periods of time, in excess of 2 hours.

Able to walk, bend, stoop and kneel as needed.

Fine manipulation of hands and fingers is required.

Vision, with or without corrective lenses, is proficient in allowing for seeing of fine details.

Able to lift up to 50 pounds

Exposure to noise and/or chemicals is possible.

Occasional exposure to heat and cold.

There is regular exposure to mechanical equipment and occasional exposure to hot plastic. Safety equipment is required for certain activities, including safety shoes, safety glasses, ear plugs (during grinding), rubber gloves and a respirator (during painting).
