Job Description:

The Assembler will be based in US Milpitas. Performs a variety of component installations and inspections on electronic assemblies/subassemblies along a production line. May perform minor repairs as necessary.

Here is a glimpse of what you'll do:

  • Reads work orders, follows production drawings and sample assemblies, or receives verbal instructions regarding duties to be performed.

  • Positions and aligns parts in specified relationship to each other in jig, fixture or other holding device.

  • Crimps, stakes, screws, bolts, rivets, welds, solders, cements, press fits or performs similar operations to join or secure parts in place.

  • Mounts assembled components to boards or units.

  • May install multi-level subassemblies and modules into Racks using complex configurations.

  • Installs finished assemblies or subassemblies in cases and cabinets.

  • Assembles and attaches hardware, such as caps, clamps, knobs and switches, to assemblies.

  • Performs intermediate assembly tasks, such as potting, encapsulating, sanding, cleaning, epoxy bonding, curing, stamping, etching, impregnating and color-coding parts and assemblies.

  • Tends machines that press, shape or wind component parts.

  • Performs online go-not-go testing and inspection to ensure parts and assemblies meet production specifications and standards.

  • Sets up station with the correct documents and components per assembly drawing.

  • Handles/install polarized/non-polarized components on designated location on product.

  • Adjusts or trims materials from components to achieve specified electrical requirements or dimensional characteristics.

  • Assist in performing repair work.

  • Communicates any process problems with peers, leads, supervisors and/or engineers.

  • Perform preventative maintenance on production line machinery.

Here is some of what you'll need (required):

  • Have a general knowledge of manufacturing processes.

  • Completion of a high school degree or equivalent is preferred.

  • Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers

  • Excellent eye-hand coordination required

  • Basic computer skills.

VIEW JOBS 11/16/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-14T00:00 Mechanical Assembler Responsibilities: * Follow detailed assembly instructions, processes and procedures * Identify hardware, wire/cables assemblies, sheet metal and plastic components * Review work orders and blueprints to ensure work is performed according to specifications * Use various hand tools (pliers, and pneumatic tools such as torque drivers, torque wrenches and screwdrivers) * Cleaning and prepping products for shipping * Responsible for performing quality control including but not limited to: conducting in-process inspection and final inspection of the material and product * Report problems with quality, processes, equipment and materials to Production Supervisor/Manager * Disassembles, modifies, reworks, refurbishes, reassembles, and tests units as required * Comply with policies, guidelines and regulatory requirements per the Omni cell's Quality System * Provide hands on job function training to coworkers as needed * Maintains a clean and organized work area to facilitate manufacturing functions * Uses a computer to look-up information; reads and follows instructions * Handles fragile boards in accordance to ESD techniques Required Knowledge and Skills: * Ability to lift up to 50-60 lbs * Ability to multitask, twist and turn moves, squatting * Ability to read assembly prints and work instructions * Ability to work effectively and independently with minimal supervision * Strong focus on safety as it relates to the completion of tasks * Basic computer skills * Strong communication skills, both written and verbal * Must be knowledgeable of how to work with ESD equipment.
