Position Summary:

Under close supervision, performs routine and simple tasks in support of assembly, other process operations, or production testing.

Essential Functions:

  • Work safely and without injury.

  • Performs assembly duties as assigned using standard procedures, tools, materials, machines and equipment.

  • Performs disassembly and cleaning.

  • Follows well-established guidance from specified process instructions, blueprints, and verbalized instructions from other team members.

  • Cleans and Maintains work area.

  • Utilizes hand and power tools, builds sub-assemblies, mounts components and parts to assemblies.

  • May rotate into other positions within the team or to another team as required to meet production requirements.

  • May participate in defining strategies to meet quality objectives and in system reviews within the team.

  • Implements the Quality Policy and Procedures in all aspects of daily duties and responsibilities.

  • Participates in team meetings as required (safety, problem solving, etc.).

  • Problem-solves individually or as part of a group as job duties require.

  • Responsible for prompt and regular attendance as scheduled.

  • May be required to work overtime.


  1. Completely trained and competent in 1-3 different assembly cells.

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Up to two years experience in assembly.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must possess basic reading, writing, and computation skills.

  • Ability to continuously improve and learn new skills.

  • Must possess good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to work collaboratively and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.

  • Ability to effectively problem-solve.

  • Good communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.

Language Skills and Mathematical

Skills:

Ability to read, write, verbalize and comprehend instructions and correspondence in English. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations to team members and customers as job duties require. Conflict resolution skills. Good interpersonal skills. Must have basic computation skills equivalent to education requirement. Higher skills may be required depending on actual job duties.

Physical and Visual Activities:

Standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, balancing, stooping, reaching, handling, feeling, talking, hearing, acuity-far, acuity-near, depth perception and field of vision.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is continuously standing, repetitively grasping and repetitively using fine manipulation with the hands. The team member may be frequently required to walk, bend, squat, or twist as well as repetitively push or pull frequently up to 20 pounds and occasionally 50 pounds.

Environment/Atmospheric Conditions:

This position is performed in a shop environment. Team members in this position may be exposed to loud operating machinery, cold temperatures, hot temperatures, chemicals and vapors. The team member may occasionally be required to work in an office environment.

Assembly presses, hand and power tools and, measuring instruments, etc

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Scrap all obsolete gasket sets and sort all salvageable gaskets. * Check the Set History and Oracle Production for revisions to parts. Dismantle over stock, Check parts using Oracle Production and scrap all obsolete and non-returnable parts. * Pack all returnable parts in cartons, mark cartons and send to bulk parts. * Rebox and rework sets. * May receive set change notices and update the Set History screen. * Move parts by hand or using a hand truck. * Follows the Quality Management System requirements as outlined in the work instructions; and suggests ways for continual improvement. * Promptly reports quality problems and shuts down the equipment if unable to resolve. * Maintains a clean and orderly work area. * Follows EHS rules and regulations, participates in safety meetings and safety training, and suggests ways for continual improvement. * Promptly reports personal injuries and unsafe conditions and helps to resolve them. * Performs related duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS: COMPETENCIES REQUIRED: * Complete forms correctly and legibly * Basic reading and writing skills in English; Ability to read and understand procedures, work instructions, safety rules and warning signs. * Basic math skills – addition, subtraction. Ability to use a calculator. * Read and interpret forms used in the department. * Perform computer functions to record inventory transactions, update set history and order material. * Product knowledge to recognize and differentiate gaskets. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: * Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to forty pounds on a daily basis. * Ability to walk and move about, stoop and bend. * Ability to stand for an eight hour shift. * Normal or corrected vision necessary to read directions and closely examine parts; and to distinguish colors. * Normal hearing in order to detect equipment and motor malfunctions. * Ability to pull, lift and transport gaskets to and from various locations within the assigned location. * WORKING CONDITIONS: * Works regularly with poorly packed returns where carelessness could result in cuts, bruises if safety precautions are not followed.
