What You'll Do:

Promote Safety. Take an active role in prioritizing safety throughout the operation for yourself and others at all times in accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards.

Plant Operation. Load hot mix asphalt into haul trucks.

Manufacture various asphalt products according to mix design and customer jobsite specifications. Operate plant equipment to regulate flow of materials to and from conveyors, chutes, pumps, and storage bins. Control inventory of materials.

Inspect Equipment, Structures, and Material. Perform daily inspections of the auxiliary equipment and document items in need of repair or service.

Maintain stationary hot mix asphalt equipment, including but not limited to conveyors, shakers, drives, and screws. Diagnose problems and perform mechanical repair and maintenance.

Monitor Processes and Materials. Monitor and review plant equipment systems to ensure continuous flow of materials and maintain certified products. Remove clogged materials when applicable.

Document and Record Information. Assist plant management with record keeping and daily production schedules for submitting reports on production and maintenance.

Read and write delivery tickets to determine the mix design called for each load. Issue delivery tickets to customers.

Skills You'll Need:

Experience. Previous experience in the aggregate or construction industry is preferred.

Knowledge of Best Practices. A basic knowledge of the asphalt or construction industry is preferred.

Flexibility. Must be willing to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands. Must be able to sit for long periods of time, work outside in all types of weather conditions, and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.

Mechanical Skills. Must have some knowledge of industrial tools, their uses, and maintenance.

What You'll Do: Champion Safety. Take an active role in prioritizing safety throughout the operation for yourself and others at all times in accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards. Work with SHE and Company officials to promote a safe work environment that meets all state and federal rules and regulations. Ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. Direct and Coordinate. Direct and coordinate the activities of production and/or maintenance hourly employees to obtain top quality workmanship, efficiency, employee satisfaction, morale, communication, and teamwork. Ensure employees receive proper training and instructions to perform job duties. Manage Schedules. Direct and prioritize work activities of hourly production and/or maintenance employees. Schedule production requirements to support daily, weekly, and monthly sales forecasts to meet customer and production needs. Ensure efficiency. Assume responsibility for the production of materials. Ensure timely and cost effective operations. Ensure proper and efficient utilization of all resources and equipment. Skills You'll Need: Experience. 5 years of work experience in supervision production employees is preferred. Experience in the mining/construction industry is preferred. On the job training or an equivalent combination of education and experience in mining practices is required. Functional and Safety Knowledge. Must have knowledge and understanding of an aggregate, asphalt, cement, or ready-mix plant operation.Must have knowledge and understanding of OSHA and/or MSHA rules and regulations. Flexibility. Must be able to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises. Interpersonal Skills. Must have the ability to maintain satisfactory relationships with customers and the community in the performance of duties. Must be able to motivate and reward employees.
