Providence Staffings construction client is seeking an Asphalt Paving Superintendent in Birmingham, AL. This is a key management position requiring supervision and coordination of day-to-day project operations. Superintendent will be responsible for the completion of the project by planning, organizing, and maintaining projects; completing quality inspections; and supervising sub-contractors and staff on time and within budget. Superintendent performs any and all other duties as necessary, but not otherwise specified. Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions. Individuals with diverse commercial, industrial, ALDOT, municipal experience desired.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Ensures the safety of crew members and the public who may interact with the job.

Calculates the number of trucks required to haul asphalt from the plant according to vehicle capacity, traffic conditions, distance from the work site, and productivity of drivers.

Drives job sites to assess progress in meeting time schedules, to detect insufficient utilization of workers and equipment, ensure slope and material thickness to verify compliance with contracts, and to supervise the job.

Supervises and coordinates crew activities, studies production schedules, and estimates work requirements for completion of job assignment in compliance with or beating the job estimate.Trains Asphalt Foremen and assists in training new crew members.

Maintains time and materials records necessary to complete daily job costing, prepares progress reports material used, cost, and adjusts work schedule accordingly.

Maintains and enforces company policies.

Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, and crew performance.

Will directly supervise multiple projects and crews.

    Experience And Education:

  • 10+ combined years of experience as a Foreman and/or Superintendent in asphalt paving road work construction projects
  • Experienced in scheduling, ordering, field supervision, quality control, and production of all phases of roadway construction
  • Previous experience with ALDOT is highly preferred

Act as liaison to the Board in handling all property issues. Essential Job Functions: * Performs duties associated with capital construction and maintenance projects for BWWB properties such as wells, reservoirs and other water works facilities and equipment; researches and plans future system and facilities requirements. * Project Manager for design projects and construction projects designed in-house and by engineering consultants. * Provide project management of various projects related to civil and infrastructure systems on water works facilities and equipment. * Prepare equipment specifications required by the facility or the Purchasing Department. Perform bid openings and prepare bid tabulation for approval. * Prepare a scope of work, contract documents and specifications for bidding and procuring equipment and annual bids for stock materials and items. * Write requisitions and coordinate with the Purchasing Department and Accounting Department. * Develop project estimates and establish budgets, enter work orders and close projects * Coordinate and review work performed by consulting engineers and contractors. * Prepare budgets, enter work orders and close projects. * Ability to manage all aspects related to the property management requirements including: * implementation of timber management in conjunction with AAMU and the USFS. * Wildlife management in conjunction with USDA and APHID. Coordinate acquisition and disposal of properties, including watershed parcels and/or surplus parcels. 17. Coordinate property maintenance, boundary and roadwork projects. 18. Maintain property files and records. 19. Assist in handling all customer calls and inquiries pertaining to BWWB real estate, providing information to and corresponding with the Real Estate Committee, Executive Department and the Board. 20. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in environmental related field from an accredited college or university, Master of Science Degree preferred. Experience: Eight years of related environmental experience in engineering services, construction and project management and two years in a supervisory capacity. Knowledgeable in regulatory compliance requirements governing the water industry. Proficient in MS Office Suite. Supervision: Land administration and environmental staff/team Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: QCI preferred Valid Alabama Driver License.
