Aspen School District seeks an evening custodian to begin duties immediately. Applications will be reviewed as received until the vacancy is filled.

Reports to: Building Maintenance Technician and School Principal

Terms of employment: 12-month classified, non-exempt, At-Will employee

Work Schedule:

As per individual assignment in keeping with a 12-month work calendar

Work Hours: Monday through Friday - as assigned by Head of Maintenance/Custodians

Work Calendar: In keeping with 246 day, 12-month classified staff work calendar

Position Summary:
The purpose of this position is to provide a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean, and efficient school environment.

Principle Responsibilities:

  • Clean designated areas/spaces, including washing, mopping, vacuuming, sweeping and other floor cleaning; shoveling, and recycling as assigned or directed by the supervisor, reporting any damages, concerns/hazards to the building administrator and Head of Custodians/Maintenance;

  • Perform minor maintenance duties such as some carpentry repairs, replacing bulbs and tightening or replacing faucets, ensuring the facilities are properly maintained, safe, and attractive;

  • Perform setup and follow-up take-down for events or meetings in the facilities, including moving furniture, supplies, and/or equipment and set-up and replacement of bleachers if assigned;

  • Evaluate situations (involving staff, students, parents, the public) for the purpose of taking appropriate action or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution of situation to maintain a safe school environment;

  • Secure all doors and windows and turn off lights (except as needed for safety reasons) at the end of the shift, reporting any damages and safety concerns to the Head of Custodians/Maintenance and building administrator;

  • Maintain all custodial equipment, requesting needed supplies and equipment from the supervisor in a timely manner;

  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Position Requirements:

Minimum Education or Formal Training: High School or equivalent

Minimum Experience: 1 to 3 years of custodial work

Skill Requirements:

  • As security and safety are important components of the position, the employee must be able to communicate clearly and concisely in English both in writing and orally. Bilingual Spanish communication skills are a plus

  • Ability to read and understand chemical labels

  • Display a willingness to learn new information, including attending in-service trainings for the purpose of receiving information on implementing new and/or improved procedures

  • Use courtesy, diplomacy, collaboration, cooperation, support and professional conduct with all children and adults contacted in carrying out duties and responsibilities

  • Observe all safety rules and regulations in the performance of duties

  • Maintain high ethical standards

  • Observe all district policies and procedures

Licenses or Certification: Current CPR First Aid within 6 months of employment. Aspen School District will help the employee to obtain this certification.

Essential Environmental Demands: Mostly clean and comfortable

May be exposed to hazardous materials or situations

Exposure to noise, dust/dirt, and temperature extremes

Essential Physical Requirements:

  • Constant mobility with daily transporting of 80 lbs, ascending/descending, bending, stooping, kneeling, pulling/pushing working atop, and traversing to perform setups/takedowns, and other custodial/janitorial duties;

  • Occasionally may transport over 80 lbs to perform setups/takedowns, trash removal, moving of floor/carpet cleaning machines, and other janitorial/custodial duties;

  • Repetitive motion with cleaning.

Reports to: District Director of Special Education Terms of employment: 9-month, certified, exempt employee Compensation: Certified salary schedule Work Schedule: As per assignment in keeping with 9-month, teacher work calendar Position Summary: The purpose of this position is to facilitate learning and promote the cognitive, social, and personal development of all students through consultation and direct counseling services, program development and evaluation, specific assessments, and collaboration with various school teams. Principle Responsibilities: Assessment and Interpretation Lead the Functional Behavior Assessment process in assigned buildings Lead the threat assessment process in assigned buildings Uses assessment data about students in their environment(s) in developing appropriate programs Administer, score, and interpret necessary assessments (broad and focused) to assist in determining disabling conditions, and/or tiered programming for students according to State and Federal Regulations and according to Aspen School District policies and procedures Program Development Provide leadership for the Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) process and support in assigned buildings; participate in school district MTSS teams and assist with the facilitation and documentation of evidence-based methods for academic and behavioral support Direct Intervention for Students Provide direct mental health counseling services to targeted individual students and student groups to support the teaching process and maximize learning and adjustment Consultation and Training Provide consultation to parents, teachers, other school personnel, and community agencies to enhance student learning and achievement.
