The Aspen Middle School seeks a Library Media Specialist (LMS).

Classification: Certified Full-time Exempt
Contract Period: 9 Month (185 days with some variance depending on the year)

I: Position Summary
Learning Skills Integrationist
Co-plans, co-designs, and co-teaches with staff to embed CDE's Essential Skills into lessons for deeper learning opportunities.
Coaches alongside teachers to help them embed learning skills, technology literacy, equity learning experiences, media literacy, and more.* *Trying something new is easier with a teammate = potential way to pitch co-teaching.
Provides professional development and staff/community guidance on the skills listed in this documentand beyond
Assists staff and empowers students to develop assessments of various aforementioned skills
Works with administration as collaborative peers to provide leadership and meaningful learning experiences for students, staff, and community
Teaches digital citizenship /media literacy skills to help students utilize information technology in order to responsibly engage in their global community
Encourages and facilitates students to become increasingly self-directed as they create digital products of their learning that engage them in critical thinking, collaboration, and authentic real-world problem-solving
Co-teaches with teachers; demonstrates how co-teaching is a differentiation strategy, thereby creating differentiated learning experience for students
Empowers student voice and student agency learning experiences when co-planning with teachers. (See below for student agency/voice potential definition).
Builds and manages a diverse collection of materials and resources in multiple formats that reflects a wide variety of viewpoints
Leads article or book studies with staff on equity issues
Advocates for and implements technology that will level the playing field for all students and families in their community
Literacy Skills Guide
Embeds meaningful integration of digital literacy (technology, digital citizenship and more) into learning.
Provides access to student self-selection of wide and diverse reading collections in a variety of formats
Helps provide foundational reading skills to help students become better readers
Provides teachers with and trains them about vetted online and in-person resources to promote literacy skills
Inspires and supports the reading lives of both students and teachers
II: Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Organizes library materials for effective and efficient utilization, helping maintain a facility that is conducive to learning
Navigates circulation management, book processing, cataloging, and report generation through Destiny
Using best library practices updates the library collection through additions and weeding of materials
Possess knowledge of qualitative and quantitative ranges of text complexity
Manage the budget and ordering for books, databases, resources, and supplies
Create partnerships by attending grade level/department meetings, serving on the school's leadership team, and participating in other committees such as technology
Assist with the management and distribution of the school's Chromebook inventory
Manage the duties of volunteers in the media center
Share with the learning community collaboratively developed and up-to-date policies concerning materials selection, circulation, reconsideration of materials, copyright, privacy, and acceptable use
Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
Experience with or knowledge of International Baccalaureate, specifically the Middle Years Programme

IV: Minimum Qualifications
1 to 3 years in a school library setting
Significant knowledge of GSuite for Education, computer systems, and software
Must have Colorado Professional teacher license & must have or be eligible to obtain a Teacher Librarian Endorsement
V: Preferred Qualifications
Masters of Library and Information Science highly recommended
Google Certified Educator Level 1 (or willingness to complete within the first year of employment)
Current First Aid and CPR certification
