Main duties and responsibilities include the following (Other duties may be assigned.) Perform field work as a deputized Animal Services Officer. Thoroughly understand and effectively apply the animal control code of ordinances.
Apprehend and impound unlicensed, stray and uncontrolled animals. Investigate complaints with respect to neglect of and cruelty to animals. Correctly and humanely performs euthanasia procedures.
Prepare manual and computerized reports and documents in a neat, timely and accurate manner. Accurately input data into database system. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and or ability required. High School Diploma or GED equivalent; Minimum of one (1) year experience in an animal related field or other type of law enforcement is preferred. Must become certified as a Certified Euthanasia Technician by the Louisiana Board of Veterinary Medicine, attend the Louisiana Animal Control Academy and become a Commissioned ASO within two years of employment.
Must possess a valid, unrestricted State of Louisiana Driver's License Must possess basic computer skills. (A computer skills test will be administered to qualified candidates.) Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships.
