The Research and Early Clinical Development (RED) Imaging group at Biogen deploys an innovative and dynamic in-house molecular imaging research program to provide discovery and characterization of neuro-imaging methods; assessing their application to drug development and their utilization in the understanding of normo- and patho- physiology in disease models and in humans.
We are seeking a highly motivated, results-oriented, collaborative imaging scientist to join our group at the ASII-III level. The candidate will have worked in a research lab environment, performing in vivo rodent studies, executing experiments to achieve defined objectives with minimal supervision. Able to designs, optimize, or adapt experimental protocols. Shows exceptional engagement in extending and deepening own knowledge base. Applies new ideas from literature or scientific presentations to develop new technical approaches in own specialty area. Identifies and prioritizes experimental variables, and regularly makes bench-level technical decisions with limited input/oversight by supervisor. Writes complete draft reports and modifies appropriately after review. Presents own technical work at small group, departmental meetings and will be expected to present at national and international meetings. Effectively and openly communicates successes and failures department-wide. Demonstrates good lab citizenship and regularly implements lab processes for good of entire group
The ideal candidate will work independently to perform in vitro and in vivo studies to support RED Preclinical imaging projects, collaborate with research teams with longitudinal optical imaging readouts and assist with MRI studies.
The candidate must be able to have shown experience in some, but not all of the following day to day activities; these will include, in vivo mouse handling and techniques such as different routes of agent administration, surgeries, tissue collection. MRI and/or bioluminescence instrument operation of standard protocols, and in vitro techniques to include histology, microscopy, sterile techniques. Data analysis, data recording and reporting.
BSc or MSc, plus 5+ yrs industry or postgrad experience.
