This Manufacturing Engineering Technician position specializes in AS9102 First Article Inspection Report creation using internal quality standards and customer requirements, and familiarity with multiple levels of PPAP submission, managing incoming RMAs, and supporting other projects and functions as assigned.

What youll do:

  • Using measurement tools and documentation, put together First Article Inspection Reports for Vanguard built products.
  • Manage Vanguards RMA system; ensuring units returned are logged, documentation is complete, and units are routed to the appropriate person for possible root cause evaluation and disposition.
  • Be a willing contributor in all continuous improvement, training, and other workplace programs.
  • Provide exceptional product and customer service to all internal and external customers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


What youll need:

  • Proficient in computer systems, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Minimum mathematical skills include Algebra and Geometry. Trigonometry preferred. FAIR Drawings include Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
  • Displays a high-level critical thinking, analysis, and organization.
  • Demonstrated self-motivation, problem solving abilities, team spirit and a hands on mentality.
  • Flexibility and service-oriented attitude.
  • Ability to interface and comfortably work with all functional areas affected by the Quality System.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Communicate in person, over the phone, email, internet or in writing in a positive and professional manner at all times
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and make productive use of time
  • Normal color vision

Education and/or Experience

  • High School Diploma, GED or Equivalent
  • Experience and working knowledge of production and support processes required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in ISO9001, ISO13485, and/or AS9100.
  • 5+ years experience in an electronics manufacturing company.

PURPOSE This position is in the Operation's Probes Quality Department Material Characterization Lab (MCL), providing metrology, scanning electron microscopy, elemental analysis (EDS/EDX), specimen cross sectioning services to Quality, Production and Engineering departments. Position also acts as a backup to the RMA team, documenting and diagnosing failing probe cards returned by our customers. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Material Characterization and analysis (35%) * Plan, coordinate and execute tasks related to sample evaluation, preparation and analysis. * Cross section metallic, polymeric samples and combinations of thereof. * Verify integrity of data. Organize and maintain records. Report Writing and Consultation (35%) * Write accurate, clear and comprehensive reports for internal and external clients. * Interact with internal clients to understand their objectives and requirements. Instrument Maintenance and Consumables management (15%) * Interface with vendors and other service providers to maintain instrument calibration and operational performance requirements. * Maintain and trouble shoot laboratory equipment. * Perform calibrations, gauge capability studies and detection limits. Return Material Evaluation and Repair (15%) * Evaluate and document all findings on returned products * Measure incoming electrical performance, including both DC and RF measurements * Report evaluation findings via email, phone and formal reports to field and/or sales team * Initiate improvement requests when factory issues arise EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED Bachelor's Degree in Science or equivalent experience will be considered. Required Technical skills: * Minimum of 3 years of experience using a scanning electron microscope with elemental analysis capability (EDS/EDX) * Familiarity with metrology and statistics. * Cross sectioning experience. * Competency with PCs and Microsoft Office * Technical Writing and Failure analysis experience Preferred Technical Skills * Probe card manufacturing and debug experience * Probe card analyzer operational experience * RF measurement experience Performance Skills: * Able to manage time and resources well * Confident and flexible team player. * Seeks and recognizes opportunities to improve performance and processes.
