The Post-Doctoral Associate performs scientific research and studies under the supervision of managing staff. Moreover, the Post-Doctoral Associate promotes institutional recognition through literal contributions to the scientific community.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
1.Conducts research on specific areas of study as assigned.
2.Prepares research reports and technical papers for publishing.
3.Investigates the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and theories.
4.Maintains substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories.
5.Develops advanced analytical models and systems and provides solutions and analyses to support strategic and tactical decisions.
6.Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
Duties specific to the Department of Computer Science:
The Postdoctoral Associate supports research activities at the University, under the supervision of a Dr. Liang, in order to advance their knowledge and/or be documented by scientific publications. The incumbent will work on medical image analysis using deep learning and visualization.
Works and collaborates on studies related to field of study.
Ensures the design, development, execution and implementation of scientific research and/or development in collaboration with a research team.
Contributes to scientific literature and conferences, when appropriate.
Will work on medical image analysis using deep learning and visualization.
Performs interdisciplinary research with collaborators at other units of the University of Miami.
Publishes the results in relevant venues and presents the results at conferences.
Mentors graduate and undergraduate students.

PhD degree in relevant discipline, preferably Computer Science, electrical engineering, biomedical engineering, medical physics, or a related engineering/science field.
Strong analytical and programming skills are essential.
Experience in machine learning, image analysis (e.g. segmentation/registration/tracking), or computer graphics, is highly desirable.
