Aruba Network Technician (Hourly Contract)

Appalachia Technologies is seeking an experienced Aruba Network Technician to support a current project involving the replacement of aging network devices with Aruba solutions across multiple locations within the same geographic area. This contract position requires strong technical skills in Aruba networking technologies, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team. This project is expected to run through Q1 of 2025, with follow-on projects already contracted. The potential for follow-on contract work and/or direct hire based on available work and individual performance.

Responsibilities:

• Installation and Configuration: Apply pre-designed base configuration to access and distribution layer switches and work with on-site resources for any exceptions. Install and troubleshoot Aruba network switches with integration into Aruba Central. Upgrade and configure Aruba wireless access points within Aruba Central (physical installation of access points is handled by an outside service).

• Migration: Assist in the migration of network services to Aruba infrastructure and ensure smooth transitions. Most migrations occur after 4:30 pm to minimize business disruption, but are scheduled in advance.

• Testing and Validation: Work with client resources to thoroughly test and validate network functionality to ensure reliable performance and meet project requirements.

• Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of network configurations, any design changes, and troubleshooting steps.

• Collaboration: Work closely with the project team, providing technical expertise and support throughout the project lifecycle.

• After-Hours Support: Be available for regular after-hours migrations on a recurring weekly schedule.

Qualifications:

• Proven Experience: Demonstrated experience with Aruba networking solutions, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.

• Certifications: Aruba certifications (ACMP, ACCP, etc.) are highly preferred.

• Technical Skills: Strong understanding of networking protocols like spanning tree, VLANs, and OSPF routing.

• Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve complex network issues.

• Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with team members and stakeholders.

• Adaptability: Ability to work independently and as part of an established team in a dynamic professional environment.

Job Types: Part-time, Temporary

Pay: $30.00 - $60.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 30 per week
