The Art position requires, but is not limited to the following:

  • Wisconsin Certification #1550 - Art (K-12th Grade) or equivalent.

  • Familiarity with and working knowledge of Wisconsin State Standards.

  • Ability to differentiate the curriculum to meet the academic needs of all students assigned.

  • Effective and positive oral and written communications, as well as knowledge of best practices.

  • Ability to forge positive relationships with the students and parents / guardians of students.

  • Effective student-centered approach to classroom management.

  • Ability to work collegially with grade level staff, Student Services, Administration, the faculty, and the community as needed.

  • Candidate must successfully obtain and implement Responsive Classroom Training as required.

  • Experience in curriculum writing and unit development.

  • Ability to facilitate student / parent / teacher meetings as needed.

  • Experience with standards based instruction and grading.

  • Familiarity and/or experience with electronic gradebook.

  • Strong technology skills.

  • Other duties as assigned.

FTE: Summer School Only (Session 1: June 17th-28th; Session 2: July 8th-19th; No Classes: July 1st - 5th.) * Based on student enrollment. The School District of Ashland is seeking qualified candidates for its Summer School Review Program. Individuals would be responsible for teaching up to 3 review classes per session and available for both June and July sessions. Teachers may teach a combination of review and enrichment classes. Review classes are being offered for grade K-8 in Reading/ELA and Math. Candidates must be student focused, task oriented, organized, positive, and flexible with a strong desire to help students succeed. The Summer School Review Teacher position requires, but is not limited to the following: 1. Wisconsin Teaching Certification (Early Childhood, Elementary and Middle School, or Middle and High School) 2. Ability to differentiate the curriculum to meet the academic needs of all students assigned. 3. Ability to forge positive relationships with the parents/guardians of students. 4. Ability to work collegially with district staff and the community as needed. 5. Experience in curriculum writing to be able to develop review classes. 6. Ability to facilitate student/parent/teacher meetings as needed. 7. Willingness to be flexible in content and age levels of classes that will be taught. Session 1: June 17-28 Session 2: July 8-19 Class Periods: 8:00 - 9:15; 9:25 - 10:40; 10:50 - 12:05 Teacher student contact time: 7:50 am - 12:20 pm (4.5 hours/day) Teacher planning time: 4.5 hours of prep per full session Schedule subject to change if needed.
