REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Credential: Clear Single Subject Art Credential Education:
Bachelor's degree, including all courses needed to meet credential requirements. Experience: Student teaching (8 semester hours or 180 clock hours) or two years of full-time classroom teaching experience. Personal Qualities:
Ability to meet district standards for physical and mental health. Better than average recommendations from student teaching supervisors or other professionals who have observed the personal characteristics, scholastic attainment, and classroom performance of the teacher. Job Summary
RESPONSIBILITES: Teach art pupils in a classroom, utilizing the course of study adopted by the Governing Board, and other appropriate learning activities.
Plan and implement a balanced art instructional program, complete with standards that meet all necessary requirements. Instruct pupils in citizenship, basic communication skills, and other general elements of the course of study specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district. Provide planned learning experiences in order to motivate pupils and best utilize the available time for instruction.
Develop lesson plans and instructional materials for the class including individualized and small group instruction as necessary in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil. Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom. Evaluate academic and social growth of pupils, keep appropriate records, prepare progress reports, and communicate with parents on the individual pupil's progress.
Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude and learning problems. Create with assistance from students, a functional and attractive environment for learning through such things as displays, bulletin boards and interest centers. Participate in and maintain staff development as provided by the district and professional growth opportunities.
Perform basic attendance accounting. Select and requisition books, instructional materials and supplies records. Insure and maintain a comfortable room environment.
Supervise pupils on yard duty and in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day. Administer group standardized tests in accordance with district testing program.
